Why I've Eaten Salad For Lunch For Five Years (sad face)

One of the strongest motivators for me to eliminate meat from the diet has been the hospital cafeteria.

I kid you not. It's the meat in the steam trays in the Doctor's Lounge and the quality of burgers on the grill that turned me off from meat long before I ever set foot in a RAW vegan restaurant.

It's the kind of meat that comes in bags that are frozen (chicken) or patties that have little pieces of paper between them. After a while, even the fish got hard to take.

So I ate salad.

Have you eaten salad for lunch for five years?

It gets old.

That's how 'My Project' began. I really enjoyed the food at the RAW vegan restaurant. And the chef at my hospital noticed why I hardly ever eat anything except salad, no matter what he cooks.

I explained to him that the food provided does not meet my lifestyle choices--organic, vegan, no high fructose corn syrup (yes--no more cranberry juice at the hospital for me), no GMO, and for my son, pasture-grass fed free range animal products.

Just between me and you, the aspartame yogurts in the fridge just freak me out...I didn't tell him that though.

I bought him a copy of Cherie Soria and Dan Landman's book--RAW Food For Dummies (it's actually the leading book on the topic) and my friend the owner of the restaurant and I split a one hundred dollar gift certificate for him to go to the restaurant to experience RAW.

He never ate there.

I don't know what he did with the gift certificate.

But he did go visit the restaurant once. It was a surprise that I was there when he came to see my friend. I sat in the booth with them, and then I excused myself to get the other chef from his office.

I asked for the best RAW vegan chef in the world to meet our hospital chef. I knocked on the door. He must have been out of the office.

But I did the most amazing thing, from my heart. I spoke to the door. I don't know if you are in there or not, but through a lot of effort I got our hospital chef here. He needs to meet you. I am tired of eating crap. They have nothing for me to eat at the hospital--when I was an inpatient I thought they were trying to kill me! http://reikidoc.blogspot.com/2012/06/hospital-food-is-un-reiki.html. Think of all the doctors and nurses and patients and patient families who could be helped by your expertise. Please, please, help make my dream come true.

He never answered. He wasn't there, how could he?

But Spirit did.

I sat in the booth with the owner and hospital chef trying to get them to connect. It wasn't pretty. I felt the stress. Trying to make a deal (you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours), trying to force a commitment, and trying to protect the kitchen and the secret recipes. Nothing personal, but total Duality mentality on the part of my friends at my Spiritual Home. I got sad. The energies spiraled lower and lower instead of up between the two parties.

It's a shame, really. Because the hospital chef knows how to make a lot of food for a lot of people every day, and my friends at the restaurant could have learned how to 'scale up' from him while he learned 'healthy' from them.

Then came the Bulldog one week later. Introduced to me as a 'friend' of the owner. She was anything but. I know those who are not of Spirit, the ones who 'don't-have-our-best-interest-at-heart'. I felt the familiar energy drain, the my-will-versus-yours, and the carefully hidden agenda-hunger for money.  I know it well. So although the 'job description' was 'manager of the restaurant', I know a heart's dimension when I see it, and this one was even MORE 3D than the owner. This heart was after my freedom, money from the hospital, and a Big Business Deal. But the Brain was in 'Wally World' and completely out of touch with Reality at The Hospital.

So I pulled out my big guns:

  • my doctors LIKE meat
  • the only way this can fly is if we promote 'vegan choices' be made available
  • it's a win-win even without money
  • do you think my doctors are stupid enough that they won't notice an exchange of fake meat for real meat--like ribs and soy substitutes?
  • I told her something in confidence as a test
She failed the test. I called her on it. She 'spun' it as 'being very tactful' and 'selective'. She wanted to know what would move the project forward.

And a voice I never knew I had texted back: Spirit will move the project forward. There is great need.

Guess what?

The very next day I was in the OR with our breast cancer surgical oncologist, director of the breast center, and incoming president of the medical staff. And her vegetarian plastic surgeon. She said she's packed her lunch every day for twelve years because she likes 'clean food'. Then at lunch I asked the midwives what they thought of the project. The vegan one loved it (she eats salad every day too), and the others who did eat meat still enjoy vegan restaurants from time to time, and supported it too.

Our chef had told me to let him know next time I am on OB call and will go to the doctor's dining room. I am the 'guinea pig' and he will try out new recipes, on his own, on me. He gave me a big plate of food that was kind of like 'eggplant tofu'. I wanted bok choy, green, but I got 'lots of protein vegan'. I went to the doctor's lounge. And guess who was there? The vegetarian plastic surgeon.

The plastic surgeon's brother died young with a brain tumor. That's why he changed. He still likes meat. On his plate was the chicken curry and rice. 'I just eat around the meat' he said. But when I shared the new dish, he totally loved it! And chef walked in, and we gave our enthusiastic support.

This is how 5D is. No talk of money. No I'll give you this is you give me that. Just a desire for something to improve for humanity, and making the request from your heart.

Thank you Spirit.

Here's some info on 'eating healthy' from the Mayo Clinic. Note--go organic on the blueberries and wild caught on the salmon--http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/health-foods/MY01108

Here they are on Yelp--I understand they actively promote 'healthy options': http://www.yelp.ca/biz/mayo-clinic-hospital-cafeteria-phoenix-2

when I was at Navy hospital doing peds--our meal tickets went to Mc Donald's downstairs! See how much room there is for improvement? http://www.rwjf.org/en/about-rwjf/newsroom/newsroom-content/2011/12/childrens-hospitals-offer-few-healthy-food-options-study-finds.html

Here's a project initiative along the same lines as me, I didn't know we had: http://ahealthieramerica.org/our-partners/hospitals/

And here's Kaiser's take on the issue--I've eaten there a lot when mom was sick. Again, mostly salads, and not a whole lot of choices except for one froozie fruit/vegetable drink dispenser in the cafeteria. They did have 'food choices' though, for mom: http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/stories/2013/june/24/better-hospital-food-federal-health-law.aspx

Food IS a medicine. It also is a source of the majority of our illnesses, the chronic long-term ones.
So choose wisely. And  choose well. With your heart center. And a pendulum if you're not sure about it! ; ) http://reikidoc.blogspot.com/2012/11/vote-your-pendulum.html

Know that the more cooked, and especially the more fried or microwaved, the less energy of Life and nutrition is left actually IN the food. So no matter what, to keep the energy of the workers and microwaves 'out' and 'LOVE energy' in, be sure to give thanks for, and bless your food every time you eat. Even give Reiki!

Day Three--October 19, 2013

One of the changes that has come more pronounced is 'what you want to eat'. Your appetite and tastes change slowly but one day you look at the meat on your plate and think, 'This is dead cow!' or 'This is dead chicken!' or 'This is dead fish!'. Even the bacon you used to love, you look at it and think, 'This pig needs its bacon more than me to stay alive!'

It's the cruelty that is in the Vibration of the food that you 'pick up on'.

Depending on your family's eating habits, your lifestyle, and your circumstances, you might not be able to act on that 'sudden knowing' about what your food is and how it got to be on your plate.

Instead, you start craving foods that have 'Higher Vibration' and are 'Alive'! I want fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly leafy green vegetables. My taste for alcohol went away, and only once in a while do I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner (being raised Italian, this is 'normal' for every night to have one glass with the meal).

I can even 'pick up' the difference in Vibration of my bottled water. Iceland has a different 'feel' than 'Hawaii' or even 'Fiji'. I enjoy the differences very much, for I am taking 'in' this Vibration into 'me'.

The last 'sudden craving' is for the sun. I actively seek it, for about ten minutes a day, and it feels 'enough'. This morning, on the drive home from work--I drove into the rising sun. And it felt terrific! The higher spiritual practices do 'sun gazing' at dawn and at dusk as a form of 'nutrition for the Light Body'. I used to think it was strange. Now I am starting to understand.

Your physical body has matching counterparts in the mental body, the emotional body, the etheric body, and the astral or 'Light' body.

Feed them well today.

The Role Of Surrender In Raising Kundalini

I am reading with less interest than I thought I would have when I bought it, a book called ' Spiritual Nutrition' by Gabriel Cousens, M.D.

He writes about himself in the third person to show there is no ego. How strange is that?

Anyhow, I am only on the first chapter, and I feel I have to speak up. He has a lot of good points, but the 'follow my recipe to Enlightenment (Kundalini)' approach is bothersome, as well as his disclaimer that 'if you don't have LOVE of God in your heart none of this recipe will actually WORK'.

Here is the deal--he's half 'right'.

Yes, these Six Foundations for Spiritual Life ARE indeed correct, and are in NO PARTICULAR ORDER:

  • Nutrition--vegan, organic, live-food, high-mineralized, low-sugar, individualized, moderate food intake diet, well-hydrated with pure living water, and including Spiritual Fasting
  • Building Prana--Yoga asanas, yoga pranayama, ohpnim, t'ai chi, reiki, tachyon energy, other energy practices, sacred dance.
  • Service and charity--this helps expand consciousness through direct experience
  • Spiritual guidance and inspiration--satsang--being in the presence of an awakened one brings a human 'touch' to spirituality
  • Silence--meditation, prayer, repetition of mantra, chanting. Silence is the doorway to the Heart of God.
  • Kundalini Awakening--initiation, with is the awakening of the Divine force that is resting in potential within us.

This is where I take out my hands and do a HUGE 'Time Out' signal to everyone!!

Time Out!
Hold it!
Do not pass GO, do not collect two hundred dollars!

Hello????

YOU are in the perfect place and perfect Time right this minute NOW for all your spiritual development!!!

Everything you need to awaken that KUNDALINI is right with you, right here, in perfect balance, in this moment NOW.

SO CHILL!!!

This all started for me by following that 'little voice' inside that 'wanted to know more about my psychic  gift' because I figured, 'God wouldn't have given it to me if He didn't want me to use it. He wouldn't waste it, so I might as well go to psychic development classes and learn.'

There I found Reiki. After that I went on a no-holds-barred mission to jack up my vibration like Totally as far as it could go!

Next, some time later,  I met Lady Isis. I wanted what she had, her energy. And she did the Goddess Initiation on me, opened my nadis and stuff and the Kundalini has flowed ever since.

I didn't read a book.

Books are amusing, and good to increase your knowledge.

But Kundalini flows with the HEART CENTER. It must be open and ready to handle all of 'That Energy'!

Allow, ask, and surrender yourself to the process. Your guides are ready to help you!

Do 'What Feels Good' until your Kundalini kicks in.

There is no test at the end of the semester. There is no DEADLINE by which the Kundalini will 'go bad' or 'not work'.

There is all of ETERNITY for you to 'get this' and 'get this RIGHT'.

Here are my thoughts on the six pillars:
  • Nutrition--don't go crazy here! Just avoid eating crap that will numb your energy body out. Always cheat, just a little, because of the situation or your being human. Never rigid unless your health condition requires. Just do what feels right to you.
  • Building prana--the more the better. I do yoga, Reiki, and Tachyons. T'ai chi bores me to death. And my sacred dance is ballet, or just by myself to a song I like. Being in sunshine, the water, and with animals helps me lift my vibration too. I'm sure good sex is in this mix somewhere, but the author Dr. Cousens didn't mention it.
  • Service and Charity--this often ties in with your Purpose. Mine is working with the sick. You'll get lots of energy when you are 'on the right track'. Be careful about charity--some organizations are not reputable, so be sure to check them out.
  • Spiritual Guidance and inspiration--a lot of good stuff is out there on YouTube and the Internet. Seek 'like minded souls'. If it 'resonates' and 'you feel good', go for it!
  • Silence--I don't think Dr. Cousens 'gets it'. I can meditate in a bus station. I can meditate on a Roller Coaster. I can meditate in a Buddha Shack. What is going on in my ears, mind, and mouth are NOTHING to do with the Silence of God! After many years of practice, that 'heart connection' to guidance and SOURCE are Open! Nothing can shake it. And I 'tap in' when I want, when the need arises. It feels pleasant and I love to do it whenever possible. I don't know how to help you discover it, but that Silence of God is with you no matter what once you discover it. You can laugh and tell jokes and be in Silence too. It's that 'God connection'. Don't suffer needlessly and burden others with attaining 'silence'. Be cool about it, and you will find what works for you.
  • Kundalini Awakening--just go with it. It feels wonderful. I had a teacher open mine up. I felt 'called' to ask her. I was 'ready'. Trust. It will happen. When the time is right. And no one can take it away...
Be YOU. Be who you are!!! You are not only the student--you are someone's TEACHER just by holding your Vibration where it is meant to be.

I love you very much, and I don't want you to worry that you aren't following a 'recipe' to the way it was written on your 'enlightenment'. Real cooks don't measure anything. Seriously. They 'just know'.

So do your best, and you'll 'get it right'.

Holy Sheets!

Today I was trying to settle the sinking feeling of hypocrisy I had been having over what I feed my son--what he will eat and he is picky--and what I have in my mind about what both of us should be eating.  I went to a lecture about 'Creating Healthy Children' by Karen Ranzi.  And in paying close attention to my feelings on this matter, I came up with a 'formula' of sorts on the back of an envelope on Thursday night. On Saturday night, 777Alaje mentioned something very similar in Part 20, released that day. Let me go over the story, and give the formula on 'Vitality' at the end.

This morning there was a request for breakfast: crepes. I make them from scratch using organic milk, organic eggs, organic butter, and not so sure about the flour, not organic white sugar, and Himalayan pink salt. I put Nutella inside, and it is very well-liked. I also special order chestnut spread from Bonne Maman online for me--it costs just as much to ship it as to buy it--but it is worth it because I love it.

So after my green drink--(today it was just almond milk with Dr. Shulze two tablespoon and raw protein powder one tablespoon)--I was good to go. I didn't care if it tasted awful. I had run out of juice, but I liked the effect so I drank it with the almond milk, making special note to go buy juice later.

I don't even try with my boy anything green. If I put the protein powder into the smoothie, anything green, or yogurt, he won't drink it. He hates nuts and nut butters too. If I put in a banana, orange juice, ice cubes, and one other thing--peach, pineapple, strawberry, blueberry--he'll drink it. I did not make smoothie today.

Right after the crepes, when he was 'full', about twenty minutes later, he asked, 'Mom, do you want some chocolate?'. That is the sign of toxic hunger--wanting food shortly after a meal is absorbed, especially while watching YouTube. His fat is like a tumor, exerting estrogen-like and other hormonal effects. Built like a lineman, his body is made for work and lots of it.

I had tried the 'join the swim team so you can eat anything you want 10,000 calories a day like Michael Phelps' approach. He has been in swim lessons since age two. But scheduling and sinus problems made us have to quit.

Before the lecture, he wanted a hamburger from Mc Donalds. I know lectures aren't his thing, but this one was for kids, and it was good for him to be there. This time, however, he wanted only the burger--ketchup only. He passed on the coke (he is ADDICTED) and fries. Why? Because he likes the Hawaiian blend smoothie where the lecture is at BETTER. (He drank two, the first one chugged in less than one minute).

At the lecture, I enjoyed 'Living' spaghetti--hard to explain, but enjoyable enough for a picky Sicilian like me. I love basil! This was definitely high-end, Raw Vegan. I had a mysterious 'margarita' elixir that was warm, and 'living' chocolates to share at the end.

Then Karen went into her talk.  I am not even going to begin about the particulars. Here is her website www.superhealthychildren.com

My thoughts?

  • Karen's paternal grandmother almost died a single mother with a four-year old son from asthma and emphysema. She found a book in the 1920's on 'mucus-free living', turned vegan, and healed. As a physician, I suspect alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency--Christy Turlington has that. It is a good way to need lung transplant. She also might have had chronic bronchitis--my doc friend who had it had to lie on a slant-board head down for two hours a day, one in the a.m. and one in the p.m. to get her sputum up.
  • Karen's father and mother disagreed on diet for her. He was vegan. Mom wanted meat 'for protein'.
  • She ate 'conventional food' until she got sick. And went vegan. And healed.
  • Her boy had bad asthma. Her husband didn't want her to, but she turned him vegan. He healed.
  • All of this can be explained by some genetic, inherited disease process that resolves with no dairy no meat.
  • Right when I was starting to wonder where she got the time to keep her family raw vegan--she said that she home-schooled her kids. She was a stay at home mom.
  • She lives in a bubble. But the grandmother on the paternal side? She's the one I'd like to hear talk!
  • Karen says that attachment parenting and breast milk and pregnancy with the mother 'eating a variety' will 'make the kid love vegetables!'
  • Been there. Done that. Nursed for three years, four months, and three days. (he liked to go to sleep that way) The only thing he liked inside the womb and out is chocolate! Used to jump around inside whenever I ate it--I eat a little dark chocolate every day.  Everything else? *sigh* even when you do it right there are no guarantees--especially when coparenting with a bio-dad who teaches him that cheap food is best, serves most meals in the car, and that meat is both 'manly' and 'love'. Did I say they always split a Big Gulp together, too? All the sugar, all the caffeine. Since our boy was TWO.
  • At least the attachment parenting gives you a relationship with the child that is close enough to 'work with them' on diet.
After the talk, which was not kid-friendly at all and frankly, boring ('can you hold your questions till the end?' she said to the other child who was actively engaged in the lecture and asking age appropriate questions at the age-appropriate frequency--after starting the lecture saying 'feel free to ask questions!' with a smile! What?!? At least my kid got the questions SHE asked right!) I took the kid to a movie he wanted to see, GI Joe. I enjoyed the movie about as much as he enjoyed the lecture. Even though we ordered some GMO-laden franken-popcorn, he wanted a water and not the coke.

We had 'family night' at the nursing home with nana and mom. All three girls and our kids went. We were full from popcorn. But after, at eight at night, he wanted dinner. KFC. A four-piece grilled meal, mashed potatoes, gravy, and biscuit. He let me have the coleslaw. We both had water.

The way I see it, if you are going to live in a real world, and enjoy the companionship and flexibility of the opportunities life has to offer, you are going to have to step OUTSIDE the bubble of the stay-at-home mom with a raw-vegan lifestyle, and just 'go for it'.

My sister, the 'healthy one', stopped off at Sprouts before going to the nursing home. She had a kombucha with chia seeds and raw trail mix, but her dinner was in the car. She used to be a pescatarian, but now, if she must, has occasional meat.

This is where trust in Spirit and intuition and self-knowledge are important: as your vibration goes UP so does your need for different types of food.

You will eat Lighter, and the foods you enjoyed might not appeal to you so much any more. KFC makes me sick. It also is starting to make my son sick, too. The cruelty in the animal products is 'perceived' by your consciousness, and it does not want it.

This speaker, bless her heart, is sincere. She happens to be very third-dimensional:  convince YOU that MY way that worked for ME is BEST. I give her that.

Here is the way of the fifth dimension:

Vitality (as in Optimum Health) =   (Vibration Raising Choices - Vibration Lowering Choices)/ Vibration Raising Choices.

Your health is a by-product of your VIBRATION.

Raw vegan foods, and all the healings, are real. But it is just as much VIBRATIONAL ENERGY HEALING as it is anything else. You drop a bunch of the toxins that lower your vibration by eating pure and clean food, you select foods rich in Life Force ('micronutrients and superfoods' per Joel Fuhrman, M.D.), and your Vibrations goes UP. The Aura strengthens. The chakras SING they are functioning so properly and balanced. And you heal whatever disease it was that got you sick in the first place.

Your percent Vitality is going up. In my mind's eye, I see it like a test score--70% = C, 80% = B. 90% = A

Optimal health is more than nutrition. It is sleep, meditation, movement, getting rid of toxins (in food and environment), and getting aligned with your Higher Purpose.

No matter what you eat, bless it. If your Vibration is high enough, no food is really 'bad' for you, although avoiding cruelty makes a lot of sense. In a way, one can think of Cruelty as a Toxin, wouldn't you agree?

This is from a busy single mother who has to stay up late tomorrow night taking care of patients. I am in that position on the schedule where I am the last to leave the O.R. Holy Sheets! (I saw this on the back of a truck while driving home and thinking about this subject--LOL--Spirit has the BEST sense of humor!)

I also believe in respect for my son's Free Will in the food department. I am not going to force him into ANYTHING. It will come right back in my face when he is older.

Like Cherie Soria says, 'If it does not taste good we won't eat it.'

And like I add, 'If it is too hard and requires a lot of planning in advance, it's just not going to happen.'

When I figure this one out, the lifestyle and the kid and the coparenting and raw vegan, I will let you know. Back to the old drawing board--one day we are going to get it right!

Namaste, and Aloha Nui Loa,

Reiki Doc

P.S. Good advice from Karen when I asked about the 'fake meat' soy products. Don't. They are processed, and soy is often GMO. The guest in the audience shared that these soy products are made from waste material after making animal feed from soy. 'Think of Tofu as White Bread' is the general consensus. And avoid the top 5 GMO's: soy, sugar, corn, tomatoes, and potatoes.

Emergence: Just Be Present

Today I was surprised at my heart center and it's candor. Let me explain. After reading today's Matthew's Message, I was stoked, I mean, TOTALLY EXCITED about the intel, right down to the word 'co-create' that I had just written about in this morning's blog post, Healing Candle 7: Bali Sunrise.

On the car ride home, I reflected on this information in my heart. And I asked Spirit, 'Why isn't everybody--you know, Joe Citizen--everybody and his brother--etc-- excited about this news too?'

Spirit gave me a response in an instant, in just the way that I could understand. It wasn't words. It was a thought-picture about something I know well and work with every day--emergence from an anesthetic.

Here is a conversation I have had many times each day for most of my career:

Patient: Just be sure I WAKE UP from the anesthesia. I don't want to die on the table!
Me: You're not going to die!
Patient: Seriously! I don't want to take too much and not wake up!
Me: Have you ever drank so much you 'blacked out'?
Patient, looking sheepish: ...Yes...
Me: What happened after you stopped drinking?
Patient: I woke up. I was fine--except for the hangover...
Me: I keep you asleep by giving you 'sleeping gas'. When the surgeon is done doing whatever they planned to do, guess what? I turn the gas off. And you wake up! That makes sense, doesn't it, when you think about it that way?
Patient: They smile, and look relaxed, and say, I guess that does make sense!
Me: My job is to watch over you and adjust the anesthetic during the procedure so you are comfortable and safe. I will not leave you. When the surgery is finished, I will wake you up just barely enough so you won't choke on your own spit. The first thing you are going to remember is the recovery room. Everything between now and then will just seem like a short time, where everything will go 'black', okay? Next thing you know I will be bugging you to wake up and you are going to be like, 'I am soooo comfortable!' Okay?

I realized that there are things being actively given to the general population for 'keeping them asleep'. They are illuminati things, like the controlled media and addictive substances and unhealthy food. But as these things are taken away, the people are naturally going to start 'waking up' to the Truth after many generations, thousands of years in fact, of  Lies.

---------------------------   -----------------------------   ---------------------------

I had to work today. It really sucked to have the kids home from school and me working. I had them stay with a friend, another single mother. After three, I was able to go pick them up. They asked me to take them to Mc D's for 'some french fries'. I said yes because this particular one we went to once late at night after I picked them up because I had a craving for french fries. It was fun when we ate them in the car after going through Drive Thru.

Something changed in me. I felt a calling for something 'better'. I drove by the Hollywood-style Chain Vegan Restaurant in the same mall. I wanted a juice. It was closed from three to five.

As I walked in to Mc D's, it hit me like a ton of bricks--the lies! I couldn't eat. I didn't order anything. I didn't want to spoil it for the others, so I let them order. 'I'll take a number 13 meal' I heard--and I thought how odd about the number. I was pleased they ordered water instead of soda.  To keep company I ate a few french fries. But they had lost their magic.

I was hungry but I couldn't eat. My eyes caught the 'flyer' on the tray. It was about nutrition, and all the 'many choices' that were available. I asked the children, as they ate, these five questions:

  1. What would you eat if you didn't want to hurt animals? Apple slices. Yogurt parfait. Salad. I also pointed out that the cows with the rancher on the T.V. 'infomercial' for the place WERE the hamburgers.  The kids said, 'what about fish? we like fish?' and I said, 'It is better than beef and pork, and about the same as chicken, nutritionally, but they are still animals.'
  2. What would you eat if you were at school? (it is a no-sugar school; nothing in the first five ingredients can be a concentrated sweet, even honey or cane juice.) Salad. Hamburger. Fries. They were surprised the yogurt had sugar.
  3. What would you eat if you ate organic only? Nothing on this list.
  4. What would you eat if you did not want GMO? Or High-Fructose Corn Syrup? Nothing. Not even the ketchup.
  5. How many calories did you eat today? How many are in this meal? Let's add it up--waffles with syrup and butter, three slices of pizza at Chuck E. Cheese, two sodas, ten nuggets, fries and water--about four thousand calories. How many calories do you need in a day? About two thousand. What happens to those extra calories? How many fruits and vegetables did you have today? Does cheese count? No. How about the french fry potatoes? They are fried. They don't count. Well then, none.
They asked me, 'Are we going to turn vegetarian? We will be short if we don't eat meat! It's TRUE!'
I said, 'No. I just don't want to eat here because my heart isn't into it any more. I don't want to cook dead chickens and cows. I don't really want to serve food from the dairies, because they also torture the cows. It took me a long time to come to this, and a lot of knowing myself and what is in my heart. You will in time come to your own decisions. I will not force my choice upon you. Besides, I will always eat some meat if I am served it by a friend or if I am starving and there is nothing else to eat at the hospital. But not every day. I will do the best I can.'

I asked, 'if your body was a car, what kind of gas would you put into it? Regular? Plus? Or Supreme?'
I just want to put the very best fuel into my body to make it run the best it can for me. Everyone's body is different. Why don't you get to know yours, and find out what works best for you?

(Their father suggested putting them on a dairy-free diet for three weeks to cure chronic sinus ailments. I agreed. Except for the pizza last night at a birthday party, and today, they have been off it. Miraculously, it appears to work! They don't know it, but I am going to keep them off it most of the time for good, if they keep this improvement I have been noticing the past five days.)

My heart center found a Truth, packaged it into a way I could understand it, and gave me a chance to apply it with my kids. When they are ready, they will wake up, too. And one of them is an eight-year old Reiki Master!

No wonder why the world at large is fast asleep. There is a lot of Anesthesia for the Soul going on out there! Now that makes sense to me. And when the 'Anesthesia Gas' is turned off--you get the picture! <3

Aloha and Namaste,

P.S. If you are looking for a tool to help you 'sort things out' as 'Truth' or not, why not take a general statement and 'Turn It Around' a la Byron Katie?

Example: 'There is NO DIFFERENCE between conventional food and organic. Studies show they are the same.'

'Turned around': There IS a Difference between conventional food and organic. Studies just have not been able to show it yet (either technology is not advanced enough, or the people who funded the study do not want to demonstrate this difference).

I hope this helps!

The Healthy Kid's Meal Oxymoron

Recently I witnessed something happening. As a 'open' person, I was able to 'get' more out of that situation because I 'saw' it energetically, not with just my eyes, but instead, with my eyes and heart.

I was seated at a local steakhouse. I had just finished a brutal shift at work. And since Dad-I coparent-had made jelly sandwiches and kettle corn and some nutrition bar that make them choke for lunch, I was taking the kids out to their favorite restaurant. Nothing in the first five ingredients on the food should be a concentrated sweet--it's the rules. So all this carbohydrate was a double crash on their delicate systems.

Across the aisle came in a mother with her two kids, both a little younger than mine. The girl was around four, the boy, approximately six. She was married but the husband was not present. The children behaved.  Then this is when my 'antennae' perked up:
The server, a young man, came out with two plates of chicken strips and fries. He had so much love and pride in his work. He teased the girl a bit, as to, 'who gets what plate I am so confused?' and she laughed and said, 'Me!'. Nobody, not the mother, not the server, not the kids had any idea how poor a choice this 'food' was nutritionally for these kids.

I saw, the mother had some grilled chicken with cheese on it. No fries.  I knew about those fries--I ate one from one of my kid's plates. They were incredibly salty! The sodium must have had off the chart values, easily exceeding two grams, for the meal. The fried foods are a set-up for colon cancer. And the meat is probably full of hormones, antibiotics and cruelty. The energy of this felt like chalk on a blackboard.

We are unconsciously poisoning each other!

We are unconsciously poisoning each other because of lack of awareness and a need to show love.

This is how they poison us. We are poisoning ourselves together.

So how are we going to stop it, this harm that starts with the first meals children are given to eat once they wean? And how are we going to get everyone together on the same page?

We need to pray. We need to ask our Guides, our Angels, and Source every day--to bring clean food and clean water that will nourish us into our lives. And a way to nourish our hearts and need to help others in the right way. Simply put, to Know what is Truth in Everything as we go through our days.

After that we have to Listen to 'hints' from our Inner Guide, for that is how Angels 'talk' to us. We get a 'great idea right out of the blue!'...something that 'resonates' with us as Truth. For in all, our heart center is our 'truth' detector, isn't it?

I was there for the same reason--I couldn't cook, the kids love it, and we know the owner who is the most personable, positive soul we know. I was empty, and I wanted FULL. The kids were crashing, and needed to 'pull up'.

I ordered for them, lemon-lime soda (better because no dyes or caffeine), steak, sliced steamed carrots, french fries (but try to eat only ten), and a seared ahi appetizer. We also ate the bread that was provided us.

On the way home from work, I 'got' a deep sense of permission and acceptance from someone I know who is raw vegan. It was total acceptance, and permission to eat what is needed to survive. The time I woke up for this was 3:33 a.m. That is how I knew to write. My path to nutrition for 'Optimal Health' has been not straight. So you are forgiven, there is no wrong, all is good. Just take the time to 'listen' to your 'inner guide' on all of your food choices, and educate yourself.

I am sure this mom ordered the chicken because she thought it was more healthy than the beef.

All it will take is a little 'redirection'. Last week I served the kids 'Chik'n' for dinner. They are artificially-made frozen non-meat 'strips' that are breaded like the real thing. They have that meat-like consistency that 'breaks apart' in 'muscle fibers' like real meat. That is not to say that they were not expensive and my background in chemistry gave a great big 'hmmmmmmmm' to the ingredients list. The children refused to eat them--not because they were fake but because I had burned them! They didn't know that it was not meat! I enjoyed mine very much.

I am a little further along the road than most. But all of us with get 'there': to optimum fuel for both our energy bodies and our physical ones. We will know without a doubt how the food industry has tricked us, and not allow ourselves to be tricked again.

bedtime snack--2000--glass organic milk

I was terribly out of balance because of the lack of sleep during this 'day', from an Optimal Health point of view. I was centered, and calm, with an Open Heart, though. And I took in the meltdown of my son at the restaurant with calm, lovingkindness, and a smile. He was crashing so bad he burst into tears and threw his jacket over his head! I sat next to him, put my arm around him, spoke in soft tones, and made sure he got two sips of soda right away to perk him up. Inwardly I smiled at my own exhaustion, thought, 'when it rains it pours', and shared with the server how utterly empty I was and how much I looked forward to a baked potato. She was kind, and said, 'don't you worry, I've got this!' and made for a beautiful meal.

I tipper her 25%.

Aesthetics and Ascension

Need to lose a few extra pounds? Got that 'tired' look going on around the eyes? Are you wondering what you can do about it?

Ascend!

Everyone who goes through the Ascension process is going to rejuvenate and go back to their best body that they ever had. It will be by choice. You can 'select' how you wish to appear. It is very simple.

I can change shape at will when I assist souls who are stuck in Crossing Over to the Other Side. I discovered it quite by accident. A classmate of mine lost their father while waiting for a heart to become available for transplant. The family was Jewish. This was back in the early days of my 'assisting', and I had never taken a psychic development class or anything of the sort. I just knew if I concentrated hard enough, I could 'see' where they were. I went into 'alpha', like I would do with praying the Rosary (I have said many!), or working on something I enjoy (like painting). There they would be. I helped my own Grandfather, and the best friend of my husband (when I was married), cross. So, out of compassion and love for my grieving friend, I lay down and started to 'look' for his dad.

I found him.

He was afraid of me, and pulled back. Surprised, I mentally asked him why? And although he did not say anything, I realized he was looking for someone from the Jewish Faith to help him cross. Instantly I changed form into a fat rabbi with a yarmulke and those little long curls in front of each ear. I wondered if this will work?

It did! I felt him relax immediately, and he reached out to my extended hand like a child! That was all it took. I place his hand into Our Lady's, and they disappeared at once!

As the holidays approached at the end of 2012, years later, I dreaded the five pounds that usually comes with it. I decided to 'think myself thin' as the 21st December was approaching. Secretly I hoped to 'transform' into my Light Body then and there. If I did, I didn't notice it!

But now I can fit into a pair of size eight jeans. On some level, it has worked. My friend showed me her brow lift yesterday after I asked about her two black eyes under her glasses. It looked good on her. But I laughed to myself, because with Ascension, I can be any age I wish. I can look my best. Without any scars and patches of numbness (she is numb above both of her eyes! sad, isn't it?)

The door rang. The cable man is here. He is about twenty years old, and an 'apple' shape. He fixed the cable and we started talking about my boy who is husky, and my trouble getting him to stop overeating. It seems emotional at times, because I am always at work. He had some advice, and also shared that at home he ate well, but with his twelve hour days as a contractor, he eats what he can on the road, and it is not healthy. He goes for 'the cheapest and biggest thing he can find'. Then he asked me about what I do, since I have long hours too.  Anesthesia always gets people to 'open up'. He started on his anxiety. It turns out he has a severe case of Obstructive Sleep Apnea that is untreated. His mother has it too. His 'anxiety' in reality is from hypoxemia. Desaturation makes you panic, for keeping you alive! With his permission, I wrote out a care plan, with all the medical jargon, and encouraged him to battle the insurance companies for his care. (Sometimes doctors are slow to refer to a specialist because of 'the system'.). He apologized for taking my time, and I reassured him I am 'doctor' 24/7, and I am always glad to help someone in need of medical advice. (I think we have solved part of the 'medical mystery' of the Patient-Diet-Surgeon connection, did we not?) And of course I referred him to Evita Ochel's Udemy e-course on Optimal Health ($35--a good bargain).

Remember, in Reiki, at the beginning, you are going to gain about ten pounds. This is typical because as the connection to Spirit and Source is stronger, the body has to compensate to keep you 'grounded' more. This will pass. As you increase in your Reiki training, your body will encourage you to make healthier choices. Yesterday at lunch it was Vietnamese food in the Doctor's Dining Room. We get that every Friday. I passed up the meat. It was barbeque pork, and I didn't want to take the health damage hit from eating that. I took the rice, doused it in sauce, added lettuce, sliced carrots, tomato, and cucumber and was happy through the rest of my day!

Take Evita's Course. Here is the link. You won't regret it. http://www.udemy.com/courses/search?q=evita+oche. Evita herself just contacted me and provided this new link to save you five dollars! Now the course, at a special rate for you Doctors With Reiki readers, is only Thirty Dollars! Thank you Evita for your kindness!

The Patient-Diet-Surgeon Connection

The day before yesterday was the second time I heard a surgeon make a comment linking patient socio-economic status to diet to intraoperative finding. Today was also the first day I found reference to it in a journal. Here are the comments and findings:
  • 'I can tell a poor person from a rich person by the consistency of the fat that cushions the heart: poor people have soft loose fat and right people have hard thick fat'. this was my heart surgeon speaking during open heart surgery, about eight years ago. The O.R. was shocked at his statement. But he felt it and it was true. I suspect it is the effect of Trans fats versus Saturated animal fats such as butter and steak and sour cream.
  • 'I am seeing a pattern with some patients (infers the poor socioeconomic status)--their tissue has no strength. It just falls apart and bleeds like crazy when I work on them.' --this was an orthopedist
  • 'Furthermore, they find that preexisting endothelial dysfunction caused by a high-fat diet increases the risk of this adverse response to transfused stored blood, modeling a common scenario under which human patients might receive transfusion for traumatic emergencies.' Gergory J. Kato, M.D., Hematology Branch, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Anesthesiology, V 117 - No 6, pp. 1159, December 2012

The endothelium is the lining of the blood vessel, and is very important in clotting.

According to the course I am taking by Evita Ochel, the diet for Optimal Health, which is somewhat like the best fuel to put in the 'car' that is our 'body',  includes these five guidelines:
  1. Eat whole food in its natural state
  2. Eat a plant-based foods
  3. Eat raw to gain the benefit of enzymes and nutrients that are in the food
  4. Decrease toxins the liver has to process (trans fats, artificial sweeteners, and chemical additives)
  5. Eat alkaline foods and avoid acid-generating ones (sugar is one example)
I am starting to make connections. I hope you do too.

Fat Doctor. Fat Nurse. On Hospital Food--part 2

I recently began to follow a nutritionist on Twitter. I had just posted about hospital food trying to kill me when I was in the hospital. And I asked this expert if they had any ideas on how to make the food service in a hospital better from a nutrition perspective.

The response was shocking--'Hospital food is poison, just go look at the fat doctors and nurses eating Mc Donald's in the hospital'.

It was arrogant, dismissive, and completely without understanding for the situation most of our patients, doctors, nurses, technicians and other hospital employees are in. Coming from a teaching background, where I was a University professor for eight years, trained in the notion that 'there is no such thing as a dumb question', I felt extremely dumb after seeing help from this individual.

Like Nora Ephron's parents once said, "take your misfortunes and turn them into a story", I am sharing my story now with you.

First and foremost, anyone new to the working side of medicine needs to understand this: most of your caregivers are overworked, sleep-deprived, and hungry. Yes, we are in the business of health care, and in caring for our patients we are not exactly practicing what we preach.

When I was a medical student, I ate with the team. Surgeons tend to eat their meals in the gaps between cases. But while caring for patients on the floor, the interns sometimes go without. A colleague who was in internal medicine used to have soup for lunch because 'It was faster' (he could eat it while walking around taking care of patients). When I was in charge of the ICU and Burn Unit, the nurses would look the other way while I helped myself to ensure, because they knew that I was not able to eat due to my workload while taking care of patients. I did this so often, they showed me a way to make it more palatable: mix it with equal parts milk and pour it over ice. While I was on that service I lost twenty pounds.

After I changed specialties to anesthesiology, I was given a fifteen minute break in the morning, thirty minutes for lunch, and fifteen minutes in the afternoon to attend to my personal needs. This time was watched closely. I would get in trouble if I did not return promptly from my break. If the patient was unstable, or it no one was available to give me a break, it was understood that I would go without and not ask for a make up time since I was salary, not hourly, worker. Can you imagine the lines in the cafeteria? They are long. As a consequence, I learned to eat my meals as fast as possible. At a restaurant, I eat so much faster than friends and family, that it is embarrassing to me when they point it out.

These breaks went away once I graduated from the training program. Now I eat in the gaps between surgery cases in the O.R. But when work is busy, or I have a pushy surgeon who will not begrudge me the ten minutes it takes to buy and eat a sandwich, I do not get to eat.

Everyone knows that hungry people tend to make unhealthy food choices, and overeat.  I find in the hospital, the thought about mealtimes is eat while you have the chance because you do not know when the next chance will be. I actually pack my lunch of organic, wholesome food even though I do not have to. Doctors at my hospital have access to hospital food at discounted rate. But I find my own food is faster. I don't have to run to the cafeteria. It saves time. And I feel better, too.

I think hospital workers are Innocent bystanders in the Hospital Food Conspiracy. We are a captive audience. Where else to go?  When there is time, we escape to Fast Food. One of the staff will make a food run and usually the doctor on call will treat. Many times, the food that is served at dinner in the cafeteria has been on the steam trays since lunch and is unappetizing. (I also do not eat any of the chicken dishes, because the chicken is of low quality and I suspect full of hormones and antibiotics. The same is true for beef and pork, and most of the fish that is served.)

Work hours start at seven in the morning, and often last until seven at night, or longer, for many of the workers in the medical center. Consequently, there is very little time to exercise (I take stairs whenever possible to compensate.) The hours and the workload can be stressful.  But there are always little treats around the hospital, like donuts or a candy jar. It is difficult sometimes to pass these up. The stress is even worse when we are stuck at work on holiday. Because we miss spending time with our families, we often have a pot luck to make ourselves feel better. You can imagine what kind of goodies everybody brings in.

In the hospital the work is demanding physically, mentally and emotionally. There is not much aerobic activity although we are on our feet most of the day. (I wear compression stockings to keep my feet from swelling up after my shift.). We also see misery and conditions that are disturbing, such as death, suffering, and fear. If anyone is in need of excellent fuel and optimization to do their work, it is the workers in the health care field. Many are forced to make the choice between time spent with their family and taking care of themselves with exercise during the short hours they are awake when they are away from the hospital.

What has our workplace done for this? Sneaky changes that are touted as healthy but are only stop gap measures in the big picture:

* the ice cream freezer 'broke' and was never replaced three years ago
* January 1st we learned of NEW HEALTHY FRIES! Baked, not fried. The deep fat fryer was taken away. The sweet potato and regular fries are tasteless and not edible.
* Doritos, Lays', and Fritos got the boot January 1, too.  Healthy Chip options are pita chips and whole grain baked. Not even Sun Chips. Again, Kale chips would taste better than these.
* Unfortunately they still have Coke, Snapple, Minute Maid Juice, fountain drinks, and energy drinks. But Honest Tea, sweetened with honey in glass bottles,  is gone.  Wouldn't this have been one of the first places to have made a change for health like the others?
*Although a salad bar is always open, a food worker once told me, 'you don't want to see what we have to do to the food so you can eat it--regulations'

The changes are inconsistent, without buy-in from the staff, and promote the American Heart Association recommendations for low-fat, low-cholesterol diet that is now being found to increase rates of diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome.

My favorite vegan surgeon actually met with the CEO to discuss the possibility of having hospital food meet more current demand, such as organic, vegetarian, and locally grown foods. His ideas got shot down with laughter by the head of the organization, then and there in the administration's highest office.

And that, dear friends, is the opportunity that lies in front of us: to bring health back into the health care industry, one hospital, one patient, one worker at a time. Your knowledge and input is crucial to making this a reality. Ask for it. Don't accept the situation as it is.
