Reiki And The Alcoholic

Today I worked with an alcoholic. I can't say if it was male or female, or what we were trying to fix.

What I can tell you is that this patient, who was not at home but at the hospital last night, drank the morning of the procedure and was shaking in pre-op holding 'from anxiety'. I could tell it wasn't from withdrawal because the patient kept remarking to themself, 'I wonder why I am so anxious about this procedure. I am MORE ANXIOUS than I was for my (very major) surgery?!' The anxiety worsened the longer the patient was in my presence. I picked up on an energy level that my Very High Vibration was 'affecting' them; in addiction, the aura energy tends to be very low. High Vibration and Low Vibration are uncomfortable to each other. 

I am fortunate as an anesthesiologist that this patient was honest about all the use--because my drugs and 'patient self-medicating drugs' can mix.

What was remarkable about the intraoperative Reiki on this patient was three-fold:

• Before the procedure, I treated the 'anxiety' and the shaking stopped. Then I just 'hung out' with the patient as we waited for the surgeon. I have to--once a drug is on board, I have to monitor respiration and vital signs. It turns out the patient works at a nearby facility, sort of a popular place many people go. I offered 'acceptance of what is' by sitting and listening and not trying to change the behavior. This earned respect and trust of the patient, and the unspoken desire to heal with whatever healing was available in that procedure. It was on a soul level (this happens often in Karuna Reiki because unlike standard Reiki in which the healing energy is directed at the physical body, Karuna Reiki healing energy is directed at the soul.) 
• The addiction and abuse was reflected clearly in the second chakra, the orange one, by the navel. And balancing the chakras was just as important as the Reiki for this patient. I found that by saying (intoning) to myself in my mind har har har har har har har har, a mantra used in Kundalini yoga for helping addictions lose their grip on a person, helped.
• This patient continued to drink despite multiple lift-threatening medical challenges where most people would have 'bottomed out' and gotten sober. I suspected the presence of Negative Attachments. Sure enough, in a 'pod' that was 'hidden' between the base/root and navel chakras, were two attachments. With my angel guides (who were surprisingly letting me be independent!), I opened the 'pod' and the two were clearly seen--a Major Dark Entity and a Minor Dark Entity (they travel in pairs). I was wondering why the guides weren't 'backing me up like always, where I talk to the attachments and get them to cross to the light or else 'go to the Galactic Central Sun'. I paused. Guess what happened? In a nanosecond after that thought, they BOTH got sucked into the Galactic Central Sun and POOF! They didn't have a choice! Times have changed, energetically. On the side of the Light it is 'time's up! don't forget to close the door on the way out, negative entities! Goodbye and good riddance!'.

I was surprised for this 'change in policy'. It was strong and new.

Reiki Success Story Number 1

Yesterday morning as I came in to the OR to set up, one of my RN Reiki 1 students was going to be in there with me.

She shared how her stomach had been bothering her for some time, and she kept noticing her hands drifting up to rest on her painful areas. It offered her some relief.

Once the scrub had stepped out, I offered the RN a quick Reiki session, standing up.

I sensed her discomfort, and a lot of energy flowed from my hands into her stomach. She could feel it.

Much to our delight, the pain instantly went away, never to return for the rest of the day.

One day we are going to have 'treatments without pills or injections'. This is just the beginning.

It may not be new for those of you outside the hospital, but for those of us who work in the O.R., this is a definite 'first': two traditionally-trained healthcare workers using Reiki on each other with success.

What I Do

I do what I adore!

It takes a lot out of me. I just got home after working all day since seven-thirty a.m. But I get to do my dream come true each and every day. I am so very blessed to have a chance to follow my passion and heal others with really cool people who enjoy healing others too.

Today, after I made breakfast, washed the Martial Arts clothes, packed for the weekend with dad, made lunches, and took care of the animals in addition to getting myself ready...I:

Attuned an MD who was changing lines of work while they were on my operating table getting surgery. I attuned this doc to Reiki 1. Clearly, they were taking positive steps in their life, as shown by the health improvements since eleven months ago at the last operation. Over MY entire body weight was lost! (Spirit guided me to do the attunement--the patient is unaware but is going to have some Big Positive Changes 'just start happening' in their life. )

I didn't knock the 'front teeth' out on a patient who had really bad dental work that was falling apart. Imagine the silver 'ring around the tooth' that was connected one tooth to the next but the next was broken inside the silver ring and wiggled while they talked. This patient had a BMI of 57**--and let me tell you, there was not much room in that mouth for me to work, and not much TIME to get the airway secured, but I did it without messing up the 'teeth'. And I documented it every step of the way--TEETH INTACT!

I gave someone who was crying in pre-op before surgery a 'Strawberry Margarita' in the i.v. to help block the fear. The spouse could not believe the sudden transformation to mellow once my drugs 'hit'. This scared one was H-A-P-P-Y!

I took care of someone who had cancer because their spouse was sucking the life out of them. I didn't say anything, but I 'just knew' on an energy level from interacting with both of them. I didn't talk about the cancer. I just played it cool and gave lots of anesthesia.

I dodged a bullet by having a slow wake up with the patient in the paragraph above--so someone ELSE had to stand by with the six-hundred pound patient who was getting a skin biopsy with no anesthesia. The surgeon wanted anesthesia there 'just in case'.

Someone asked me to help with a Code Blue in the O.R. I did. I also did 'mediumship' and
'Reiki' the whole time I was helping and present. I asked Our Lady to assist with the crossing over, if there was to be any for this patient today.

I prayed for someone barely one year older than me who had AIDS and no veins whatsoever on my table for a long case. I asked If nobody has prayed for him, please God, let at least the one who has prayed for him be me.  The Reiki worked very well. Instead of the drug-seeking behavior seen in Pre-Op Holding, by PACU there was twenty percent of my usual narcotic dose for narcotic-naive patients, and the guy was sleeping FINE! Can you imagine giving LESS narcotic than you would for a clean-living Korean grandmother, only twenty percent of that dose, in an IV drug user who is actively using and having it be OKAY? Cool, like, totally unbelievable, right?  Reiki is magnificent! It balances and heals without any side effects. 

Anyhow, tomorrow is a big day. Two nurses, one surgical technician who is also a nurse-to-be, my son's teacher, and a boyfriend who is into UFO's (of the tech) are taking Reiki 1 class with me.

I am taking Reiki into the O.R. where I work--and now others in Conventional Medicine are interested in it too!

The Guest Healer in the O.R.

On Friday, I had just settled in for a long bowel case that was somewhat of a challenge technically both for anesthesia AND the surgeon...and started to give intraoperative Reiki. Lo and behold, a masculine entity, one I 'know' and call 'John' who pops in from time to time, showed up in my consciousness. It was around nine a.m., and I sensed this 'whoa!' fascination with what was happening, particularly my healing energy work.

I invited John to help, if he was interested? He said yes. 'What do I do? Where do I start?' he questioned.

I gently explained that I had the aura opened up, just go in and do your thing to heal this patient, who had a BMI over fifty, and really needed some deep spiritual healing in addition to the operation that was at hand.

I paused.

I waited.

He waited, skittish to 'start'.

So I took him by the hand, in Spirit, and proceeded with my work. I did the symbols with my mind. I balanced the chakras. I did all that I was guided to do for this patient. Then I said, 'now do your thing'.

Surprisingly enough, he said magical chant. I did not understand it, what he said, although I was surprised at his choice of saying things instead of my kind of energy work. He looked at me like he was done, I let go of his hand, and I closed and sealed the aura.

Then he disappeared.

This morning when I sent the Daily Dose of Reiki, John stepped in and offered to help too. Today was a lot of work on cleansing and balancing the chakras.

John is the Higher Self of a healer who has healed himself with nutrition and change in diet, and is known for healing others like this too.

I look forward to discovering if John (the Higher Self) and the one I know as the Earth self work together consciously (like I do) or independent of one another. As one who really loves healing in general, especially in the monthly free healing done with internationally known healers from across the globe, combining energies for the benefit of others is rewarding and exciting energy healing work!

The Maelstrom of Informed Consent

See that iceberg sitting out there? Unless you have an ice-cutter ship, it is not going to be smooth sailing.

Such is the way 'Intraoperative Reiki' is viewed by most people.  From the Reiki Community, it is 'informed consent, informed consent, informed consent.' From the conventional medicine community, it is 'Evidence-based medicine, evidence-based medicine, evidence-based medicine.' The work that I do is  controversial, at worst, and pioneering, at best. It depends on how you look at it.

On 'my side of the street', I get a good feel for my patient in Pre-Op Holding. Nine times out of ten they are anxious, and say, 'I don't want to remember anything'. They also wish 'not to have any pain'. The surprising one, which is very important to most people who have experienced this unpleasant side-effect of anesthesia is, 'I don't care if I hurt just don't make me throw up. I don't want to throw up.'

Informed consent is given at the bedside prior to a patient undergoing anesthetic. They consent to my services to tailor an anesthesia plan that is right for them. This means I pick the type of anesthesia, I select the airway device (LMA or ETT), all drugs that are useful for their health status going through this surgery, all monitoring that is indicated to keep them safe, and any warming devices or other 'adjuncts' to use for their comfort and safety. If Reiki is Energy Medicine, then isn't it a 'tool' in my 'repertoire' to use to achieve their goal of a safe and successful surgery outcome?

There are no side effects. There is no risk. Just like you get a 'contact high' when someone near you is 'lighting up', so it is with anyone who is in my presence. My aura generates a lot of Light to begin with. So whether I actively apply Reiki to you or not, by your coming to my O.R. and working with me, you are going to get a 'dose' of 'healing', no matter what.

Fifty percent of the time, my surgeons are so fast that this is all of the Reiki that my patients get; I have too many tasks to complete and there is not enough time for Reiki in their surgery and anesthetic.

For the others, in the long, boring cases where others are known to surf the internet and sell stocks and shop on Ebay during the 'maintenance phase' of anesthesia, I take some time to give more direct 'Energy Medicine, Reiki' to my patient.

Would you like to know what happens? The patients suck it in. Their aura is often so imbalanced from the burden of disease, it is like water soaking into a sponge. They take what they need and I make it available to them. I do not 'force it in'. I do not 'foist my beliefs' on them. I only do what I am trained to do, and in my case, I have an extra 'tool' in my 'cart' for making people feel better after surgery.

What do people say about me when they are awake? Thank you. And they give me a big smile, and a sigh of relief. There is a twinkle of Light in their eye that was not there before surgery.

The driving force behind alternative medicine, complimentary medicine, and integrative medicine, in cancer patients is that these concentrate on 'Life' while traditional and conventional medicine is perceived as focusing on 'death'.

The long and short of it, is I 'bless' my patients. Many of my colleagues read the bible and pray for their patients one way or another during surgery. Is this wrong to do what your heart center is saying to do to relieve suffering? And to make the best of a horrible situation?

This is 'my side of the street': how I look at Intraoperative Reiki. It is used in the exact same manner as The Healing Touch, an energy medicine that is used by nurses in the hospital. Do they need 'informed consent' for this? Not at all. It is included as an 'extra' with the conventional care that is the treatment for each patient.

My dearest Pamela Miles, thank you for bringing up this important topic in a personal communication to me. I thank you for your foresight and your concern for 'keeping me out of the fray'. I understand completely 'your side of the street' and I support you fully in your decision not to post a comment on your post. It is your right to do as you wish with your page. It is my hope that one day, like the man who discovered h. pylori, everyone will appreciate what I do from my heart for my fellow men. (he was ridiculed by 'medicine' for many years following his discovery.) The need is so great! There is great suffering I see before me. My eyes and heart never forget the courage of those I have the chance to assist through their procedures.

Angels in the O.R.

Ever see the Meg Ryan movie, City of Angels, where she is the Cardiothoracic Surgeon and she falls in love with Nicolas Cage, who is an angel? She 'senses' him, unlike others, and it catches his interest. He falls for her, in a really big way, right?

It has always been like that for me. Yesterday was cool though, and I want to share:

My surgeon, who is excellent, was holding the part of the liver with tumor in it, and taking it off. It was delicate work, as there is a risk of massive bleeding at any time. His assistant, a general surgeon, was paying close attention, as was I, who was ready to start a massive resuscitation at any time in case something bled. (I have seen a clamp come off the vena cava once, and the patient coded in under thirty seconds)

To the left of the surgeon, closer to me but on the other side of the drapes, was an angel. He was very tall, with wings over his head, and I picked up a golden brown color. He put his finger to his lips as if to say, shhhh! and began telepathically talking with me.

He had been with this surgeon through many lifetimes, for the past 25,000 years. 'This one LISTENS!' he said, and I sensed that this was good. I watched closely at the surgeon as he worked, and I could tell by the intermittent pauses, that he was making small decisions as he worked through the case, and was checking internally to do what was best for the patient the whole time. 

Then the angel disappeared from view, although I could feel he was still there. 

I played it cool. If I had not made the choice to write about it here, no one would ever know.

The other interesting thing about the surgery on this patient was the intraoperative Reiki. The patient had the most trust in me, and in her team. As I did Reiki, like many before her, we 'talked' in the astral plane. She said kind things, hopeful things, about what is in the future.  I enjoyed spending time with her, and did a longer Reiki treatment than typical, all the while watching the surgical field like a hawk for any signs of trouble with bleeding.

After a while, I asked her if she would like to go and visit with her deceased husband for a while? I asked it as matter-of-factly as a flight attendant would ask you if you want cream in your coffee.
Her bond to her son was so close that she did not want to risk it. Even though I said it was okay, there was an intense soul-bond between them, much like Twin Flames. I respected that, and acknowledged her decision. 

It was beautiful to see that much love in a soul.

Miracles of Progress: Divine Awakening in the O.R.

I set before you a series of baby steps for Awakening that indicate enormous momentum of change for Medicine are taking place:

Miracle !: The Awakened Scrub Tech
My favorite female surgical technician has been someone I was not sure was 'okay' to let know about the work in this blog. Although stated herself, 'I am really into UFO's', I held back. Others in the O.R. were learning about me, and keeping it to themselves. I just sensed that it would be 'too much' and 'too early' at the time to let this one 'in' on 'what is going on right under her nose' with this work. Well, yesterday she sent a message, with a link to what was yesterdays' blog. The time was right. I responded with full links to Disclosure As We Know It Today. She was okay with it.
When she walked into my O.R. briefly  to do something for work, I felt her aura--it is waking up, coming online, and confident in the Light.  This one will do big things,  I thought, and big things are good.

Miracle 2: The Request Case 'Reunion', part 1
In Pre-Op Holding I was treated to a wonderful 'reunion' of sorts: the aunt of one of my neurosurgical patients was herself to undergo neurological surgery, and had requested my services for the case.
This is huge for my career stability, to be requested and in demand for my care. Her niece had undergone staged procedures on both sides, with my side being the right. I was not available to her for the left side, and she had been disapppointed. She pointed me to both scars, and the 'Reiki' side was noticeably better healed than the 'un-Reiki' side. She was like a walking commercial for Intraoperative Reiki! Everything went well with the case, and I delivered the patient safely to PACU.
**Reiki was remarkable in that not very much of it 'went in'.

Miracle 3: The Redhead 'Neighbor'
I didn't say anything, but my next patient is probably going to see me at a grocery store or restaurant near my house. We live in the same community, which is somewhat off the beaten path. We spoke French, and I was delighted to make her acquaintance. She was the youngest, healthiest patient of the day.  P = patient, C = myself
P: Are you Doctor Love? Are you my anesthesiologist?
C: Yes, I am Dr. __________, and I will be taking care of you.

P: (is a yoga person) You have Such GOOD ENERGY! I feel so 'safe' right now!
C: I work very hard on my Energy. Thank you for mentioning it.

Again, uneventful case. Surgeon held patient's hand as she went to sleep. As she went unconscious, she was giving thanks to everyone for their care, giving thanks in advance. She emerged nicely, with two 'thumbs up' on how she felt on the gurney ride down the long hall in the Operating Room to PACU.

I also ran into Scrub Tech F, the swing shift one who is interested in my mediumship. 'I saw a new one! At Heritage Hill! I can't wait to tell you all about it!' I said, across the long O.R. hallway, in front of everybody.
He replied, 'I have been watching 'someplace on the east coat' Medium on T.V., and it's been really good!
(someone else goes--to him--what are you two talking about? and I hear him say, 'she sees ghosts' under his breath, and I hear a gasp of surprise from that person as I keep pushing the gurney)

**this Reiki was with Archangel Michael, and an entirely new style to me. It was quick, Angel-guided, powerful, and effective. With Spirit you are always learning something new I thought to myself with a smile.

Miracle 4: The Moment of Sheer Terror
My colleague manifested a 'cannot ventilate' scenario, and I was called in to assist before Miracle 3.
I kept my wits about me. I asked for Divine Assistance as I worked. I noticed all the communication that was going on between the surgeon and the anesthesiologist, how passionate it was for the patient's care, but not actually anything on the diagram of 'how we act when this type of thing is going on'. My training from University 'kicked in', and I not only got out a fourteen-gauge angiocath, but the life-saving connection to it, to make it fit to the circuit (i.v. catheter + 3 cc syringe + connector from a size 7 endotracheal tube). Mentally I envisioned 'success' for the patient. Within minutes it happened, and I was able to leave the room. 

Miracle 5: The Short Day on Call
I was call three. But I noticed as I finished at four, all of my colleagues, especially call one and call two, had left! They screwed me over, again! But that our O.R. would 'wrap up' before five was a miracle all in itself.

Miracle 6: I am NPO fasted enough to be a Surgical Patient!
Breakfast = two pieces of pineapple and a pineapple smoothie. Black coffee in the Tigger travel mug was untouched in the car on arrival to work. Just had been too 'in' to morning prayers/healings, I guess

'Snack'  = nine a.m. bathroom run, the only one of the day, with three graham cracker packets eaten while 'sitting on the can'.

Lunch  = six hours later, technically an 'empty stomach after a light meal' and empty enough to have surgery.

I kept my sense of humor about me the entire time.

Miracle 6: Woo Woo in the ICU
My request patient had been asking for me ever since she woke up. The recovery room RN had said, 'She is giving anesthesia to someone else. She will come find you at the end of the day.'

C = me

C: I came by to see how you are doing?
P: Oh Dr. _____ I am so happy to see you! You have such good Energy--I feel so Loved and Safe right now!
N: I should include it in my article about Dr. Emoto, this good reaction to Energy with the anesthesiologist. I am a writer.
C: I should shut the door. (I step over and close it).
Promise you won't tell anybody? I am Reiki Doc. I gave both of you Reiki while I worked on you in the O.R. I have 12,000 hits on my blog and 300 'likes' on my Facebook Page. 
N: Are you kidding? I am a Reiki Master and my aunt is Reiki Level II! What are the odds of THAT?
C: Wow! And that is why you had such a good experience with your surgery on my side!
And that is why your Aunt hardly took any Reiki--she didn't need it!  (to Aunt/Patient)--would you like some Reiki now?
P: No, you have to go home to your little ones. Go home, enjoy your evening, and have a little glass of something for me.
C: How about if my Reiki Master seven-year-old and I give you Distance Reiki tonight? It will be around nine p.m. (she agrees with a smile) Last night I did intoning on him at bedtime, and he laughed so much! I am a Karuna Master.
N: No way! I am a Karuna Master too! I learned in Sedona with Laurelle Shanti-Gaia! When we did the group meditation it was very powerfully moving!
C: (To N) Excuse me, but there is a great big orb over there by your left shoulder. It is golden yellow. I am a medium too.
N: (totally caught off guard) That is the once that everybody says is there! 
C: When we went to Victoria, I saw 4 out of 4 ghosts described on the tour at the Empress Hotel, even before the tour. My kid saw one, and I knew he is just like his mom!
P: (beaming) our house is your house. If you are ever in the area, please stop by or stay for a visit. We have dogs, but plenty of room.
N: Yes, please come. 
C: (pause) Promise not to tell anybody? I have done anesthesia on (Spiritual Celebrity A, and their partner) once, and on (Spiritual Celebrity B) TWICE!
N: OMG! No way!
P: I Love My Angels! I LOVE my Angels!
C:  That one can channel Archangel Michael ANY TIME!
P: Isn't it a miracle that we ended up coming all the way from (small desert town four hours away) to you? We are planning to move here soon.

It turns out N is a big editor for an important Organic Nutrition magazine! We exchanged contact information. And gave big hugs, with big sighs of relief that patients will be able to come and truly 'heal' within the medical system/institutions, as change clearly is under way.

Miracle 7: Team Reiki at Bedtime
It was delight to work in partnership for a patient with my tiny Reiki Master. We used his favorite tiger stuffed animal as a 'Reiki Doll'. I felt the energy from his little hands flow strong and bright as he giggled over forgetting the Japanese name of The Distance Symbol. What miracles there are for our future leaders, who are raised to 'open' to energy work like this in their home? Like this, right here, at bedtime? (Patient had a huge huge huge energy field at the crown and pituitary chakras. Needed to ground. No problem! I had spent years walking around like that, most of which while I was in Medical School.)
