The Party
Tonight I went out to celebrate the retirement of Mama Flor.
I rarely go out. For lots of reasons. If you work long days that are difficult like I do, the most natural thing in the world, on your weekend, is to want to spend time enjoying staying 'in'.
Everyone who was there was wonderful. I enjoy my coworkers very much. And everyone looks so different outside of their scrubs!
Sometimes you don't recognize them. That's because long hair gets all piled up in the hat all day. For me, it makes mine somewhat wavy--the hat--so in a way it's a good thing. But people tonight said, 'I just want to pet your hair, to touch it'. Two people said it, and they were two separate times. And many people touched it, too. My hair goes all the way down my back, but at work it never shows.
Tonight I had a dilemma.
I had to buy a drink to make the toast to Flor.
I went to the bar. Two of my friends were there. I confessed I didn't know what to order. They let me take a sip of theirs. It had mango in it and blueberries. I didn't like it; it was too sweet. They took their drinks and left.
It was just me and the bartender, and two guys on barstools staring at me across the bar. It was shaped like a letter 'L', and I was on the short part.
I don't know what to drink. I don't go out. I am a mom...I said, plainly.
When I went out I used to drink ketel one red bull, but that seems old-fashioned.
The bartender asked me what kind of taste I want. We decided on fruity but not too sweet.
The next thing he said startled me.
Have you ever heard of St. Germain?
It was surreal. You mean THE St. Germain? I started thinking 'is this a SIGN???'
He explained that St. Germain is a liquor that is from elderberries. It is usually put into champagne (like a Kir Royale, which is champagne with cassis). He said if you mix it with pineapple juice, vodka and soda water it's really good.
So I had a St. Germain cocktail that was made just for me.
He said that will be eleven dollars.
I gave him a twenty. He brought me the change. I said, Wait! Would three dollars be nice for a tip? I don't know how much is enough these days...
And his face relaxed; I had caught him off guard.
Yes, that would be a very nice tip. he said, and he smiled. I knew he meant it.
Bars aren't for me.
But my kid likes to watch Bar Rescue.
I saw that he gave me a long pour on the vodka.
I made it just in time for the Toast.
Flor's dream as a child in Columbia was to come to the United States. She worked fifty years, and sometimes ached so bad because of the arthritis, her daughter said in the toast--but she never complained. She was always smiling and cheerful and ready to work. Because of her work, there was food on the table, clothes to wear, and a roof over their head. Plus, they had the opportunity to attend private school, something that was a dream of their mother too.
Flor cleans the O.R. --everywhere from inside the room (they get messy), to the break rooms, to the bathrooms. Pre-op and PACU too. There is a lot of responsibility with that job. It must be done right. Or else people get infections. Even the temperature and the humidity are tightly controlled to take care of it. She checked to make sure all that was okay too.
Everyone danced for three hours after the toast.
The D.J. was a surgical technician, the one who inspired me to write 'What Sam Wants'. His name isn't Sam. But he had his boy helping him with the music for us to dance.
They played my 'Happy' song by Pharrell Williams.
O.R. is family.
I saw breast cancer patient R.N. dancing with her surgeon who cured her. I saw the sleep apnea diabetic surgical technician get up and dance with his wife. The receptionist who is shy got up to dance. A few were the life of the party--it wasn't me! LOL--but everyone had fun being together for a night.
I hope this helps the next time you are facing having an operation. The entire O.R. is staffed by people who know each other as a team. They enjoy each other, and work well together as a cohesive unit. And when someone leaves the O.R., for example, with retirement, we bond together one last time, as ohana, just to say Aloha Nui Loa to our own.
Aloha and Mahalos,
Namaste,
Reiki Doc
P.S. Did I give Reiki? You bet. Galactic Reiki to the guardian angel of everyone in the room.
Peace.

In My Own Skin--For The First Time
This morning I saw a truck on the way to work that I had never seen before. I was praying, praying over one of the most challenging areas of my lifetime. I was giving up hope of relationship because my ego. At the hint of possible 'connection' my ego has a tendency to go bezerk like bridezilla. It gets out of my control, I don't like it, the person I am when I am 'trying to get someone to like me'. It blows any chance away of any 'connection' of worth and lasting strength.
I told the guy I like I am not interested in a romantic relationship. In writing. I said basically, I love you like a brother.
It was because I am not ready to let go and be myself. This 'person', this 'ego' takes all of the fun away.
I also did it because I wish for MORE than a romantic relationship--I want something that is REAL and Right for both of us. A relationship where EGO is not involved in any way from either person.
In the car while I was praying, I prayed for my heart. And when I did, here comes this truck. Spirit sent the 'message' vibration as I saw the words in huge font: Dedicated Lily/
So for most of the day, unlike others before it, I was present. Here and now. And because of it, I spent the day in anguish, pain, and feeling hopeless about my life's future in partnership. I felt like these beautiful delicate flowers all by themselves in a field. Just me.
I knew in my heart it was for the best. Better to have NO relationship than a BAD relationship. And it would have been BAD because of my ego. Better to cut it out.
Then the most amazing things happened in my world of Reiki at work!
- My circulator told a patient in front of me that she was 'lucky to have the best. She is very holistic and uses Reiki on her patients.' I asked the patient, who 'perked up' suddenly, if she was 'into that sort of thing?'. She said an enthusiastic YES! So I asked if she wanted Reiki treatment. She agreed. I offered to give her a 'report' of my findings from the Reiki intraop. Her husband was there, and pleased with the exchange. I am taking Reiki to the next level in my work!
- My Reiki student from Kenya scrubbed today. We spoke and I shared with him 'Cletus'. He was interested in the financial intel that is hidden in the end of the article.
- Dr. Joe L sat next to me in the doctor's lounge. The book is in publication now. There is a warmth now between us, a mutual respect, and I really like that a lot. I think amazing things can happen at any time! (especially thanks to the big white vortex I placed in the Doctor's Dining Room about two years ago...) http://www.basichealthpub.com/author.php?AuthorID=231
- I brought my own organic sprouts and tomato into the dining room, and cut them up on my plate. I added beets and black beans to my 'salad'. Everyone can see I changed what I eat. I 'minister' without saying a word.
- I saw our Chef for the hospital. We are friends. He's been in that Dining Room (with the Vortex) every day for years now. He is showing interest in learning more techniques, and I said, 'why not RAW vegan?'. He offered to work at my favorite restaurant 'for free just to LEARN'. I spoke with the owner--we gave him RAW vegan food for dummies AND a one hundred dollar gift certificate to the restaurant AND her cell phone number to arrange for a tour of both kitchens, the vegan and the RAW vegan one! Can you imagine how many people will benefit when the lead of all food at the hospital gets these new skills and masters them?
- When I dropped off the Reiki patient in recovery room, my good friend CJ was there as the nurse. CJ is Jewish, and watched over me and my boy like a mother hen when I had surgery myself. She is the only one that visited up on the floor. When the patient asked about the Reiki, CJ got curious. She asked for a healing, which I did, on her arthritic hands. I felt the Reiki flow. She smiled in wonder and amazement--'I can feel it in your hands! I feel heat! What is that?!' And she felt better.
- The neck I treated on another coworker months ago is doing 'okay' and definitely 'not worse'. Reiki sticks!
- In the Doctor's Lounge I took my Flower Essence drops. I am healing deep from within my soul with them. The guys in there, the docs were like, 'WHOA! What is THAT?' and I explained it. Four dudes were totally interested in natural healing, and they worked in medicine, as doctors and reps!
- My urologist sat at the table with me in the Doctor's Lounge later, before our case. My colleague from the group was present. The urologist asked about Dr. Joe L's book. And then about Reiki. I explained it. (I knew my colleague was interested). The urologist, who is Vietnamese, said, 'It's like Kung Fu! the CHI....' I agreed. I also said the Reiki 'is like my hobby' and 'I teach others to do it.' and 'there is no side effect'. He wants the healing for his father who is having dementia really bad. I offered to give the surgeon a healing sometime just so he could check it out.
- My neighbor who is moving showed me her bruised finger. I healed it as we spoke. I saw the swelling and bruise get better as I worked.
- She was so excited she went back into the house and asked politely, even though I am allergic, to give Reiki to her cat. It has herpes of the eye, and needs surgery. She wants to avoid the surgery with the Reiki. Because it was left eye, and I felt the cat's vibration, I understood why it was sick. It was more than just 'she is stressed'. I tried my best to comfort the kitty on all ways I could 'connect'
Things are stacking up for Reiki in ways I never imagined. With each question, I have to think and adjust my energy to 'match' the best 'level' of reply to 'make the most sense' to them. I recall the patience of Cobra, Lady Isis, and the Dalai Lama, and model my responses after them. Their being one hundred percent love and patience 24/7 inspire me!
On the one hand I am excited to know that Reiki is really taking off. On the other, I am a little concerned about how I will be able to handle it as more interest appears in the Doctors With Reiki philosophy in medicine. Combining Eastern medicine with Western truly is the most advanced medicine we know of at this time.
My friend, writer Tig Monk, blogged something about relationship that was exactly where I was at. It was about being present, in the now, and just enjoying whatever connection there is. He said most people ruin relationship by trying to control the other so as not to feel their insecurity and anxiety. I laughed and realized in my pain at least I was experiencing mine!
It feels so good to write this. I have peace for the first time today, about my heart. I can face anything if I set my mind to it. And my decision is to surrender to my emotions, even the not so 'cuddly' ones, because that is what I am this moment now.
I actually got a quick message today. From 'Him'. He gave me a big basket or platter with spirit flowers. He paid attention to me intently. I asked, with surprise, why He was here? He said 'I came to see you.'
I asked, 'Is this real?'
He said, 'there are two reals--you where you are sitting right now, and this where we can talk to each other across distance. Both are real.'
'But I am LONELY!' I was confused, because here I was trying to process my emotions, and they weren't so good. I was feeling awful about being alone forever in this moment here and now and really having the courage to face that. I was ready for however long it was going to take to feel my feelings I need to feel so I can heal, right?
Then He shows up!
He explained how he 'knew' and thought to say hello.
I paused. I worked very hard to collect my thoughts and feelings. Then I understood what Right Action meant for me in this situation.
I thanked him for the flowers. I thanked him for the visit. And then He left.
Namaste,

The Spider In The Delivery Room
I had just finished taping the epidural in place when all of us noticed a spider on the wall.
My intution kicked in, and as the nurse had said, 'Look! There is a spider!' I felt that she was taking steps to go kill it.
I grabbed the emesis basin and said, 'No, that's okay, I'll take care of it!' I cut in front of here, scooped the spider into the basin, and ignored her protest, 'She NEVER kills ANYTHING!'
I felt the confusion of the spider, and gently kept tapping the basin to keep him from crawling out.
'I'll put it outside', I said, and watched their jaws drop as I walked out of the room: nurse, patient, mother, and sister.
With my cap and gloves on (clean ones to dump my sharps), I walked and enjoyed the spider while keeping it in the basin.
House spiders don't do well outside, so I kept scanning for a place that it was less likely to get smashed by an angry nurse.
Voila! In the large fake potted plant by the maternity entrance. No one is going to notice it there!
I came back to the room and calmly finished putting away the sharps into the red container.
The nurse looked at me and said, 'You're crazy no to kill things--plain crazy'.
Indeed I am.
The spider is a sign of the Goddess Energy. How comfortable you are with spiders and Goddess Energy says more to me about you. Spider is the wise crone. As in Maid, Mother and Crone. So be it!
Blessed Be <3

Dude! You Ate My Sandwich!
The phone rang for me in the O.R. today.
It was the nurse from the recovery room.
'Do you want a sandwich from across the street?'
I was pleased with her thoughtfulness, since the cafeteria is only open for certain hours and I was at risk of missing lunch. I offered to pay, but she said not to worry, pay after.
I ordered 'fake pork'. It is vegan. It is the kind of 'baguette' I like best. I also like the breakfast one with egg, and every once in a while I take one of those, too. As a special treat.
________________________
After the case, I saw the circulator RN at the front desk in the O.R. eating a similar sandwich.
Intuition 'kicked in', and I was not sure why. Something felt 'wrong' but she seemed hungry, and tends to be moody anyway, so I never said anything. I just wheeled my patient to PACU.
------------------------------------
After I gave report, the PACU RN's said, 'there is your sandwich!' and pointed to the counter. It was wrapped in paper, and in a plastic bag.
I eagerly took it to the nurses' lounge. I eat there so that the attending surgeon won't see me. They always wait around and want to hurry to get in the room, and barely allow me time to eat. I didn't want to commit to a ninety minute case without having some lunch first, so I hid.
I took a few bites. It looked funny. I noticed the pink was not in there like usual. Was this soy or something new?
Then I bit gristle.
No wonder why the sandwich was making me feel sick! It was chicken. I went to the PACU to ask.
___________________________
The circulator had taken, and EATEN, my sandwich! I politely explained I could not eat the other one, since I do not eat meat, and I found it was making me sick.
She said, 'I thought they were both the same. Since the Vietnamese meat tastes funny, I thought it was just chicken.'
My jaw dropped. I was not going to get to eat. The cafeteria was closed.
I went to see the next patient.
_____________________________
When I came in the room after seeing the patient, the circulating nurse apologized, and said, 'I feel terrible about eating your sandwich.'
I laughed. I said, 'Maybe next time you should ask?' and then I realized a spark of genius--'Did you like it?'
She laughed. She hadn't noticed it was not meat.
I said, 'Well, now you have eaten vegan you know it is not the end of the world. It is a good start!'
I realized I would rather she ate my sandwich and experience something new without meat in it, and be 'fooled' than the other way around.
It was a win-win!
______________
Spirituality in a sandwich. I realized that the circulator was more important than being 'right' or even being 'fed'. I was disappointed, but quickly used humor and Unconditional Love to 'connect' with her after she had mistakenly eaten my sandwich.
Forgiveness is important in the Higher Dimensions.
And guess what? I had always thought I could go back and eat meat in a social setting.
I can't!
And the PACU nurses learned a lot about me, and how I handle myself in that situation.
------------------------
One PACU nurse (who bought the sandwiches) and the circulator said, 'I LIKE meat! I couldn't imagine life without it.'
But the other, the one who took yoga class with me on Thursday at work?
She smiled and said there is a new sunflower seed 'nut butter' at Trader Joe's; you might like to give it a try.

We Do The Best We Can
I made these cannoli for Christmas two years ago; Nana was very pleased.
One day I want to make the cassata just like her masterpiece.
Yesterday I went to spend time with my Nana Angelina, my Sicilian Grandmother. She is in a nursing home, in the residential section. Her house was sold to pay for her long-term care. Nana is ninety, and has Alzheimer's that is end-stage. They wanted us to put her on Hospice, but we said no because her caregivers like her and she is doing well because she is familiar with them. We did not want to add 'another layer of care' as they described. Since then, I have learned that utilization of Hospice care by patients who are state-funded has gone up over two hundred percent in the last three years. It is a big money-maker for nursing homes and home-health care programs. Use your head when you decide whether to enroll your loved one on Hospice or not--it could be a scam. Let your Heart Center direct you to the proper decision--my sister and I 'smelled a rat' and said 'no' from our hearts because of it. Nana is still no code, or DNR, according to my mother's wishes when she signed for her admission papers to the place.
I came in at four in the afternoon, and found her distressed. She was saying in Italian she couldn't understand why her son had disrespected her by ignoring her after all the money she gave him? She wanted us to make plans to go out to eat and buy him a big steak so he would come. She also asked me to write an 'important letter' to get him. She said she calls for him all day, and he never comes. (He and his girlfriend spent all of nana's money, and were starving nana to inherit the house sooner--the family AND the state-- intervened).
To distract her, I asked, 'Would you like to smell something beautiful?' and I took out my vial of Chakra from around my neck. She smiled when she sniffed it, and said, 'It is good.' I put a small dot of it with my finger on her third eye. It stopped her train of thought and allowed me to change the conversation. I showed her pictures of the nespoli and peaches and flowers in the garden. I showed her my boy getting his next belt in his Martial Art. I hugger her and kissed her until she was happy and smiling again. I even got her beautiful energy of love in her smile on camera, too. One day I will share it, but not now, for her privacy. She is not the kind of person who would want her image all over the internet. She is most modest in every way.
I also gave Reiki as I touched her arm and put lotion on her hands and face. I didn't let her know I was doing it, I just did. I gave the Transition symbol, like I always do. Two months ago, Blessed Mother asked me to give Nana to her, and put her hand in hers. I did, and it has taken the worry from me on how much time she has left. I know who will be with her when it is her time, and I trust completely.
Her tray arrived at five fifteen. It is only blended foods and thickened liquids. Everything smelled terrible.I tried feeding nana, but I was not good at it. She hated everything. I put a small amount in each spoonful, made a big 'Ahhh!' to get her to open her mouth, and it went in. The blended meat stank. She said it was 'too hard' and spit out the meat residue into a napkin. She has difficulty swallowing. It was scary to help her drink because I was not sure how much was going in, and I didn't want to give too much. She told me to get the nurse. I apologized and went for help.
While we waited, I thanked her for the good times, and talked about the foods she used to make me when I was little and she watched me. The risu (a risotto) she made me every day for lunch which I ate with delight. The orange julius. The toast. The tiny bottles of purple grape juice she had in the door of the refrigerator just for me. Then she looked at me and asked, 'how many eggs do you want?'. She asked me that every morning, making me soft-boiled eggs where I would dip little pieces of bread into the yolks. I felt a glimmer of joy and said my part, 'I want three!' (she was always trying to get me to eat better, for I was too thin. I marveled at how our roles in life had reversed.)
Then I started crying.
She asked, why are you crying?
I said 'I wish I was a little girl again. Your home was the most wonderful place for me. You kept it so clean and welcoming. I always felt warm and safe. You are the only one that ever understood me Nana. If you had not been good to me when I was with you, everything else in my life was so hard I would have become a mess! If it wasn't for your example, and kindness, I never would have made it through medical school and been able to do what I do for people now. My job is dangerous, Nana. I could never have done it if it wasn't for you. I feel bad that now I work and I am not able to give you the kind
of care you had given to me. I don't stay at home. I have to support my son.'
She said, 'Don't cry, you'll make me cry. I never ever ever want for you to cry'.
I asked her, 'Nana, look at us now? What are we going to do? Having you here is terrible! (no one ever came to feed her. I was going to have to go ask again. The warm food was cold and the ice cream was melted.)'
She looked me straight in the eye and said, 'We do the best we can. We don't write the book. HE writes the book. But WE are the ones that go and live it. We do the best we can'.
The words were like soothing balm to my soul, especially hearing it from Nana, who I love so much. I stopped crying. I remembered how as a young mother she had to run to the caves when the bombing strikes hit in the war. Nannu was fighting in battle far away. There was not enough food, and my mother told me that Nana never ate. She always said she wasn't hungry. Everyone was starving. They even ate rats if they were lucky enough to catch them. They always had flour because her mother, Nana Peppina, owned a bakery. But when the neighbors came to the door to ask for flour, Nana had to lie because there was only enough for them. She was the strongest single mother of all, and these words must have helped her to survive.
I got a nurse to help feed her. Nana has to be reminded to swallow several times with every bite. When she stops eating, that is it. There will be no G-tube feedings like her roommate. The only thing keeping her alive is the kindness of her nurse. She takes the protein shake and adds ice cream to it to get her to eat. She knows Nana likes sweets.

After six, the sun was starting to go down. I have a long drive back home. Nana has a beautiful window next to her bed. I explained to her and the nurse who was feeding her that I wanted to get home before it was dark. Nana completely understood, and smiled. I kissed her, and said, 'Ciao!' She said, 'Ciao and Arrividerci'.

If You Have Cancer
If you have cancer, this is a heart to heart from me to you, as someone who has worked with cancer patients for all of my career in medicine.
First and foremost--it is not your fault.
Cancer is a vibrational disease (Dis-Ease) that has been in the aura for a long time. It is an imbalance that ultimately manifests in the DNA of tissue that grows rampant on its own.
Even if you smoked a pack of unfiltered cigarettes a day, it is not your fault. For you, the energetic imbalance was not noticeable early enough to 'adjust it back' into balance. It is not your fault because if you had been able to 'see' the imbalance you clearly would have sought help. You asked for healing as soon as you knew there was something wrong; there is no fault in you because how are you supposed to know something is wrong any earlier?
Do not go over your habits and potential causes after the diagnosis. This is counterproductive. Only if your doctor says you should change your habits, or your 'inner guide' of your Heart Center says 'change this' is it time to change.
There are many people making money from a cancer diagnosis. In the O.R. yesterday, someone told me that an oncologist told them 'If you had stopped the bleeding I would have been able to give this person cancer treatments for eighteen months and made a lot of money. This is lost income.'
This particular physician telling me this was outraged! There is a time where you have to say 'enough is enough' and accept the clinical situation for what it is, and act in the best interest of the patient, (not the source of compensation of the treating physician).'
See, your cancer diagnosis is a money-maker of sorts. Cures have existed for many generations. They have been suppressed. Chemotherapy is big business. That one physician mentioned with an eye on what he will get from the insurance company from treating you is just the tip of the iceberg. See it for what it is. (Most cancer surgeons and oncologists I know are caring people who work hard for your quality of life, and don't make much. One brain surgeon I know gets only twelve dollars for an office visit from medi-cal)
Just know, and have faith that in the near future, when there is a big change in the controlling factions from the one percent to the ninety-nine percent, all of these cures are going to come out for everyone. So hang on if you can, the future looks bright! But if your heart center is telling you, 'I'm done' that is okay too. There are lives between lives, seriously, and look online, you can learn about them, because that is where you would 'go' next. You are going to see you loved ones no matter what.
There is a nurse in the ICU who said there are some families that need to let go. It is painful as a nurse to watch. The patient, in tears, in private, will share with here, 'I am tired. I am done.' And the nurse says, 'You have to tell them!' But they can't. They don't want to let the family down. She calls them the football family 'You can do it! You can do it Dad!' , and the medically unaware family (the patient is in multi-system organ failure, on a vent, prognosis is horrible, and the family can't see that and keeps emphasizing, 'he's a fighter')
Follow your intuition, though, whenever you 'hear' it 'speaking up'. For example, if the thought of unfiltered cigarettes has no appeal to you, listen! You don't have to be a sitting duck for all the products that are marketed to make them money at the cost of making you sick. If you don't enjoy it in the first place, and if something in your bones is telling you to stop or never try it in the first place, that is good information for you to act on it.
I love cancer patients most of all. There is a clarity to them in spirit, that they never would have achieved otherwise. The gratitude they have for their care, the love they have for their families, and the courage they display inspires me. I will bend over backwards for a cancer patient, because my heart fully opens to them without fear of being hurt. I would like to think that our interactions are 'from home', that is, the way they are in Heaven, or perhaps if it is okay to use the term, 'Of a Higher Dimension'. I want you to know I do everything possible to ensure your comfort while you face whatever surgery you are having when I meet you.
And if you are facing multiple operations, remember, you can ask for me to work with you the next time you book a case. I am available by request. All anesthesiologists are at the hospital where you are being treated.
I have been the 'private anesthesiologist' for many children facing the same disease as you. I become 'part of the family'. And all of this was before I learned Reiki. Now you get all that and Reiki too!

"Are You My Nurse?"
We are on the brink of a new era in the Healing Arts
I smiled. Here she was changing the 'Doctor's Sleep Room' sheets and she had no clue about me!
No...I am a doctor.... and I looked her in the eye and kept smiling.
"Wow! All that work, and everything!" she exclaimed.
I laughed inwardly. Many female physicians are mistaken for nurses. I have experienced this all the way through my career. I used to call my mother and complain about it to her. Want to know what she said? She said, 'People think that nurses are pretty and kind. Think of it as a complement!"
I haven't had a problem with it since.
Today, I was watching 'cooking class' at my kid's school. I was in scrubs, because I had been up all night doing epidurals and anesthesia for cesarean sections. Sasha came up to me and asked, 'Are you a hospital lady?'
I said, yes, indeed, I was.
Another girl asked, 'Are you a veterinarian? I thought you worked at my vet's office? (pointing to the scrubs)'
I laughed, and shared that I had wanted to be a veterinarian, but I am terribly allergic to cats, so I take care of people instead.
"Do you help people?"
Then my son piped up, "Help people? She takes care of people who are so sick they are half dead! And last night? She took care of somebody who was having a baby who was not much older than us! Can you imagine that?"
She nodded in agreement. "That is too young."
One the way home I thought about it.
It's my aura.
That is what people are reacting to, when they think I am a nurse. They go by my sex--female--by my profession--healer--and my demeanor--friendly. But it is the aura , the part of me that 'touches' them without saying a word, the one that is so high energy, that makes them come to the conclusion 'nurse'.
Doctors have 'heavy auras'. Wouldn't you agree? They are learned, professional, serious, and very worldly. They drive Mercedes and live in a big house and are rich... My vibration is not 'like' theirs. Not at this time. But I am working on it! I am doing everything I can to wake everybody in Medicine up!
You know, the Vortex I set up in the Doctor's Dining Room is still there! I was wondering at conference yesterday (we have a lecture for CME credits every week)--why everyone was so peaceful and so attentive and why hardly any beepers were going off. It was different! I had forgotten about the Vortex of Light I had opened about three weeks ago. It was when I was in there alone first thing this morning, making my cup of Fog Chaser coffee in the Keurig that I noticed it again, and I KNEW.
Remember, the aura is the key to making changes in medicine. There is no 'defense' against a happy, healthy, energetically vibrant aura. Whether you are the doctor, the nurse, or the patient, in you are in a hospital or office, crank it up! Crank up the energy YOU bring to the healing environment.
It will raise it. It is enough. Remember, when there are new treatments, or new medications, they just slip right in to Medical Practice. It is very rare to 'leave one thing for another across the board', but it often 'just trickles in'. Ask your Angels, Guides, and Deceased Loved Ones to help you make a difference through you no matter where you are in the 'healing paradigm'. It is hard to stay asleep when someone turns on the light! Shine brightly--wherever you are...

Eighty-six cents
That is what I would have to pay Facebook for an ad for Doctors With Reiki, every time one would click on my ad on the sidebar. Or if I wanted to pay a flat rate, I could pay ten dollars a day for unlimited clicks. That would be almost four grand a year! I am in shock. Is Facebook really one great big ad? An experiment in marketing? Wow. Luckily, I don't need to take out ads.
Doctors with Reiki is be word of mouth, both the human and angelic kind. It will select out for a very specific energy, a high energy healing light energy, and will resonate with them. Today, for YOUR eighty-three cents worth of click, we are going to start expanding your knowledge of the Operating Room. Just in case you find yourself there.
First there is admissions desk. They copy your insurance card and have you sign lots of scary forms. These workers are not medically trained. Sometimes they are nice. Usually they are not very friendly.
Next you wait in the surgical waiting area. This part is unnerving. Tell yourself 'this too shall pass' and hug your loved ones a second time. Someone will call your name and escort you to Pre Op Holding.
This is where they will prepare you for surgery. Everything will happen in small steps. Change into gown. Start I.v. Sometimes an orderly will come shave you. The important thing is to check and make sure we are doing the right operation and that everything will be safe.
I have to let you in on a little secret: ninety percent of the time Pre Op nurses are really stressed. They work hard. A lot in information is scrutinized by them. If one seems grumpy, give them slack. They are looking out for you.
The Circulating Nurse makes sure the surgical consent and equipment are ready for your surgery. There is a cart of instruments and drapes set up by technicians according to the surgeon's preference card. But sometimes things aren't there. During the case this nurse runs and gets them. They make sure the table is right (there are special ones for back surgery, intraop x rays, gynecology and urology procedures, bariatric, etc.).
The surgeon you already know, and will sign your consent, answer any questions, and make a mark on the surgical site. The Pre Op nurses will have been nagging them to sign the consent and also have an updated History and Physical in the record. If you pick up annoyance, it is not you. Surgeons dislike paperwork. They are always busy, and paperwork slows them down. But that is the score in PreOp.
Then there is your humble anesthesiologist. When I do cases, I have been setting up for your anesthetic long before I met you. You do not know. Sometimes I have talked to my buddies to stand by, just in case, at the moment I have you fall asleep (that is called induction) because I am concerned that the breathing tube might not go in. Sometimes it takes more than one anesthesiologist to get you out of trouble with an airway. Do not be concerned unless you have a very small chin, sleep apnea, radiation to the neck, or morbid obesity. I have to ask for help maybe twice a year.
When I walk up to you, I check to see how healthy you really are. I am getting evidence to show that my anesthetic plan is the right fit for you. And for the surgeon. I can numb a part of your body and make you sleepy, or have you go to sleep all the way during surgery, and I will advise you what I think is best.
Sometimes I will put in the I.v. If the nurse is having trouble.
When the room is ready, and if you are nervous, I will sedate you on the way to the O.R. As we walk down the hall with your gurney, you may see, but not remember, the clerk who answers the phone and schedules cases, the cleaning crew, the Anesthesia Tech, and the technicians who clean and prepare instruments. There are X-ray techs, with great big c-arm fluoroscopes. There are sales representatives for surgical equipment, too. Especially the Ortho ones. There are laser techs, ultrasound lithotripsy techs, nerve monitoring techs, and perfusionists sometimes too. There is not lots of time to answer all of your questions. But we make it clear that we are here for you. And that we care.
The last person you will meet is also the most special: the recovery room nurse. These nurses are ICU capable. Don't let their pink scrubs and nice hair fool you! (everyone else wears those blue caps) they are the best at treating surgical pain in the hospital. They will keep you warm and make sure you are not too sleepy when it is time for you to go to your room.
Everyone that is at work is in some way a healer. They would not be drawn to work in a hospital if they did not have the gift of helping others find balance when it is imbalanced (Health). Someone will resonate with you if you let them, and allow the healing overall to take place, not just the surgery part.
I see a lot of O.R.'s on T.V. They are fake. Real O.R.'s are fantastic places where miracles happen every day. I thought you might like to know more about them. We need dialogue between the Yoga folks and the Conventional Medicine peeps. There is so much both segments have to bring to the healing environment. I hope this post will open your mind toward acceptance of what each group has to give toward healing in general.

Intuition and the Birth Plan
"How about Bradley?" asked a pregnant ward clerk, while at work on Labor and Delivery, on the subject of possible names for her baby boy.
"Um, NO!" said the entire staff of nurses that were present.
I was new to OB anesthesia at the time, so I asked, "Why not?"
The group gave a collective groan in reply.
The Bradley Technique is one of the more stringent Birth Plans available. The husband has full control over what the woman does in labor. There are very strict requirements of the hospital. When the woman changes her mind, and asks for pain medicine, the husband can say no, and this puts staff in the awkward position between husband and wife. In this situation, according to policy, the wishes of the patient (wife) take precedence over that of the husband. It is not a happy birth.
Over the years, the Birth Plan parturients have made a deep impression on me. For two reasons. First, they have an incredibly high rate of cesarean section over the random population. I have come to notice that the Law of Attraction is at work here in such a way that the entire Labor Deck is aware of it; any thought dwelt on attracts that thought. 'No c-section! No c-section! No c-section!' mentality sends an order to the Universe, which does not process the negative, 'c-section! c-section! c-section!'
There also is a sense of rejection of the medical community and what help there is available in women's medicine when such a family is admitted to the labor deck. There is a denial that a baby can die in childbirth, and that there is the best interest of the mother and child at play in the orthodox birthing process.
This is an emotional mindset that is hard to face facts. Reason often does not work with these patients. As an anesthesiologist, I sense distress and suffering in these couples. Except for the yoga teacher who really wants to 'do it all natural', there is usually some apprehension and conflict between the dad-to-be and the mom-to-be about the impending birth.
I have been keeping this mystery in my heart for several years now, asking the question, 'Why? Why do these families have such strong beliefs about childbirth, come to an orthodox medicine facility 'just in case', and refuse most of the interventions indicated for their labor? Why do they want to have their cake and eat it too? What is behind all this suffering and desire for control?
Then it hit me: what if these women, and men, in some way experienced a death in childbirth in a past life? What if they incarnated back with the purpose not to die? And their lesson takes precedence over just about anything else that is going on? (for example, the in-utero condition of the infant?)
What if the Birth Plan is a reaction to a past-life event, driven by the desire of the individual to 'Do Over' and erase the scars that were upon their souls?
I have seen women, thousands of women, go through childbirth. I put the epidural in. I go with them to c-section. I see a LOT. And many are in thankful disbelief when all is said and done, and they are alive and the baby is with them, and everything turned out okay. No matter what else happened.
Sylvia Browne once commented that the moles and birthmarks on most of her patients correspond to traumatic events that happened in a past life. I suspect that the need to establish a Birth Plan might stem from trauma associated with a past life birth.
If this is the case, then there is a great deal of opportunity for Reiki, especially Karuna Reiki (TM), to allow for a Healing Birth Experience. Reiki-trained providers can look past the conflict and distress in the current situation to the underlying cause, and flow Universal Light Energy to the process. The dad-to-be and mom-to-be can experience healing on a deeper level, and develop Trust in a caring environment. And hopefully be 'cured' of whatever soul-level component that has been ailing them, making them free to go on to enjoy the love of family and all the gifts family life has to offer.
I think the Medical Community might step back, and instead of ridiculing the couple for their control and anger expressed at the system that the nurses, docs, and techs work in, they would understand the root cause behind all this distress.
One thing that is lacking in the dialogue process is the liberty of time. Demands on the workers in the hospital are extreme, often to the point of sacrificing their personal needs (bathroom, meals, sleep) on behalf of the care of their patients. When a couple arrive with a Birth Plan, there is going to be an extra layer of communication necessary, and more time than the average birth. This time is not compensated to the hospital and staff by the insurance companies. And also the emotional wear and tear of the staff from interacting with this perceived-hostile patient, partner, and possibly doula, is not addressed.
There is much room for improvement. The two warring factions (just read any Primitive Mother Birthing Website) for peace. Divine Peace is the healthiest state in which to enter the world. Divine Peace Birthing! Come and have your soul cared for, as well as your body! We treat your heart and keep ours connected to you throughout the birth experience! You do not need to be silent (unless you may choose), passive (unless your health situation does not permit), controlling (trust that we want what is best for you and your baby!). Many of us have experienced birth ourselves and would enjoy spending time with you, and helping you to have a wonderful experience while you are with us.
Healthy mom, healthy baby...with Heart.
Birthing balls, and candles, and underwater tubs and the like, are crying out for nothing more than that. An un-scary birthing experience this time around.
There is so much room for improvement on both sides! Reiki-inspired birth suites can bring a depth of healing to the entire process, for all!
