Elimination And Your Health
Your health is important to me.
That's why I write.
I write about the healing, about the spiritual, about the new technologies, especially in energy medicine.
All this won't do much good if someone is 'backed up'.
That's right...constipation.
Just because you have a stool every day does not mean you are 'getting everything out'.
I know because I work in the GI lab sometimes doing anesthesia for endoscopy. And when it's really bad--for the patient as well as for the team when we are dealing with this 'subject'--I have to put a basin of ground up coffee on my desk so I can stand the stench! I not only see it, but I smell it and I listen to what the gastroenterologist says...
Apparently for mild constipation, prunes, stool softeners, and metamucil work. They have to be taken every day without fail in the moderate conditions. Citrucil is along the same lines. The mechanism is natural and does not create dependence. It distends the bowel and gives it something to squeeze, sort of a 'work out' for the muscles of the intestines, both small and large.
There is a metamucil-like substance that is twice as strong, it tastes awful, and makes a grey paste that has to be taken twice a day. I do not remember what the name was of it. Apparently there are some people that this works for them, they are motivated, and by taking this they stay healthy in the bowels. Next time I work with this gastroenterologist I will ask the name and update this post, so you might want to check back.
Then comes Miralax when the others fail. It is not exactly 'natural' in that it just cleans and empties the bowel. But it does not create dependence like other laxatives can.
The reason people become chronically constipated is based on the food choices. Bowel likes a great deal of fiber (in most cases, perhaps with more care in divericular disease). When preference is for foods that are refined with lots of sugar, there is no residue, and this is a set-up for problems with digestion down the road.
A nurse had a daughter who had 'stomach aches' but was usually made to go to school. She stayed home some times. Well, an x-ray showed that the daughter was chronically constipated. Although she was about ten, her pediatrician prescribed large doses of miralax twice a day (double strength). It took six months for her to clear out and regain normal bowel function. Now the family is aware of her needs, and when symptoms recur, she just has to take a short course of miralax until it resolves.
For more on bowel health, here is the original article with some recommendations for natural products, as well as a diagram of what healthy stool and unhealthy stool look like so you may compare http://reikidoc.blogspot.com/2014/03/movement-as-above-so-below.html

Update On The Vegan Hospital Food Project ((( woo hoo! )))
As requested, last night I informed the hospital chef by text that I would have time to eat lunch in the Doctor's Dining Room today.
I am his guinea pig for RAW vegan and vegan options for the hospital. He is working on recipes!
The phone rang at 11:15 a.m. Come to the doctor's dining room.
Inside a little black styrofoam box was a salad with what looked like chicken but it was fake. It tasted like the real thing! But it wasn't! The salad had apple slices, jicama, good lettuce blend, and vinaigrette dressing.
I was smart.
I made it 'Show and Tell'.
I came to the Doctors Dining room armed with packages of WrawP brand Raw Vegan Flat Bread, Spirulina flavor (six ounce package, four slices, cost about eight dollars), Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts brand raw shelled hemp seeds (ten grams of omegas three and six per serving), and Himalania brand antioxidant RAW Goji Berries.
You should have seen chef's face. And my colleague, the Vietnamese (here is her story http://reikidoc.blogspot.com/2013/07/reflections-on-boat-people.html), and the vegetarian who loves animals and won't eat meat but loves the taste of meat Persian Gastroenterologist!
What the heck is THIS?????
It was the delight of pure joy to discover something new to eat.
I offered tastes of the fake chicken and what I brought. The Persian asked politely where he could buy it. (he and his wife eat lots of fake chicken and it 'isn't nearly as good'). It turns out it is restaurant 'special order' only, but chef graciously offered to cook up the other piece he had back in the kitchen.
I sat next to the Persian doctor, and he enjoyed his lunch very much. I sat next to the Vietnamese anesthesiolgist, too. We were across from an Egyptian internist. He tried the fake chicken, and said it wasn't bad! Even HE was happy to have new choices! The Vietnamese says she 'Likes meat!' and I smiled and confided, 'some people NEED it, and that's okay. We just want to have more options for vegan and vegetarian patients, doctors, visitors, and staff. I am the guinea pig, that's all'. The Vietnamese lady anesthesiologist also worked with a doctor in San Diego who wrote the book Super Foods, went on Oprah, and became totally famous! He looked twenty years younger than he was and enjoyed excellent health!
Then who came and sat next to us? The author of Conquering Cancer. Did you know eighty-five percent of all cancers are preventable--they are not 'just genetic'? He says it is due to alcohol, tobacco, obesity, and 'where you live' (environmental factors). Apparently Japanese women have very low rates of breast cancer, but 'bring them here and after five years they get it just like us.' He also shared the mystery over stomach cancer in Japan, but not here. I shared that there are two subtypes of helicobacter pylori, and the Japanese one is more aggressive. The gastroenterologist looked at me--yo, anesthesia! the 'party' doctor LOL--with new respect because I was right. I laughed and said I learned it from someone who says since westerners have 'friendlier' h pylori we should 'kiss a Japanese and save a life' so they get our 'good h pylori' too. He totally cracked up. (Here's the link to the blog post and video on that--http://reikidoc.blogspot.com/2013/10/something-to-add-stomach-cancer.html)
He asked me if I meditate mindfully or mindlessly. I was like, what?! (Apparently mine is mindfully because I do it when I drive. He used to during a long commute as well.) Right then my boss sat at the table. (Blush!). Caught red-handed with my goji berries, hemp seeds AND the raw vegan bread. Yes, Dr. Boss, this one has a 'case' that is WAY worse than not having the steak and fish at the black tie fundraising gala banquet! LOL LOL LOL
Fortunately, he is very financially motivated, and another 'worldy' doc sat down too, and they talked 'business' while the Persian and I quietly discussed meditation. (I noted that Boss and other ate salad--that vortex in the Doctor's Dining Room I put in last year is really WORKING BEAUTIFULLY! LOL)
Here's the scoop--mindless meditation gets you to the 'bliss' the gastroenterologist used to need twenty minutes to 'find' in TWO MINUTES! And instead of fifteen minutes 'result' with mindful meditation, he gets it in 'five'. He suggested this book, which I just bought on Kindle, 'Silence Your Mind' by Dr. Manesh Ranoja. He says it is an Australian doctor who studies meditation quantitatively, like a medication--its effects on Blood Pressure, etc. 'It is Science, not gobble-de-gook' the gastroenterologist said.
He also shared that through Dahn yoga, he was able to heal his right knee that was so bad he almost needed a knee replacement.
I asked him another question--is your wife into meditation too? How does that work?
She is. They 'each do their own thing' and she likes Sahaja yoga for her mindless meditation. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sahaja_Yoga)
I laugh now because I shared I do kundalini yoga with Ana Brett and Ravi Singh on amazon prime instant video at home on my computer, and that I love kundalini. No wonder why he said I need to go join his wife!
The end result is that he said, 'This vegetarian project never would have happened without your effort' with gratitude towards me.
And I did not disclose I am in Conquering Cancer with Reiki (just one page!). But I did share about my being a Reiki Master. I got his respect again with that--I saw his whole face change. I mentioned briefly, too, my blogging, the international interest in what I post, and my keeping it on the 'down low'--but that the point is to bring the Spiritual back into medicine, and for the Healers to Unite across all disciplines for the benefit of humanity globally to reduce suffering, illness, and encourage health for all. I sincerely shared with him how our lunch is going to give so many people hope! How so many think we are in medicine for the wrong reasons. He understood. He said, 'Actually, many doctors are the smartest ones--the most educated and the most forward-thinking. Some are clearly in it 'for the money and chasing the money' but others are in it for humanity and 'the money washes over them' because they are helping others to have less suffering.'
His story of how he came to medicine is worth a moment. He was going to be electrical engineer. But in Iran, all the universities closed for two years. The only one to reopen was medicine after that time. He sat for the entrance exam to practice test taking. He scored so well, he got accepted! So her enrolled, thinking he 'could take the general requirements and be six months ahead of the engineering school when it opened and transfer.'. What happened and why is he in the Doctor's Dining Room eating lunch next to me? On the first day of medical school, everyone calls you 'doctor'--your family, the school, people in the community. He said to himself, 'Are you crazy? This is really a good thing!' and he finished his studies to complete his M.D.!
I gave him the biggest hug! All these years we have worked together. I thought he ate meat until about three months ago. And he thought I was just, well, you know... a 'gas passer' (the nickname for anesthesiologists in the hospital LOL).
This is what my Heaven looks like. It is Here and Now, and the Energy and Joy is immense and highly contagious!!!!

P.S. This gastroenterologist is the same one Spirit guided me to ask about High Colonic Hydrotherapy in this blog--funny how Spirit 'knows' when we 'don't', isn't it? http://reikidoc.blogspot.com/2013/10/something-to-add-swollen-colon.html

Orso
Archangel Gabriel woke me up this morning. 'I have a message for you.'
I asked him very politely if he would mind if I excused myself to the restroom first. He gestured, 'Go!'.
I came back, and he had me arrange the pillows like a 'beach chair' and to put my journal on my lap. But I was super sleepy. He said, 'Rest' and I fell asleep just like that for an extra two hours.
All day long, in the back of my mind, I wondered what He was going to say?
But instead, I arrived to work on time--I had a late start. I anesthetized my patient. I relieved a coworker, although my heart had wanted me to go to where my heart had planned to go (I had extra clothes and everything for lunch--it's a long story). It looked like I'd be there late. So I ate some 'bosses day' chinese noodles in the nurses' lounge before I relieved my colleague to go see her kid recite a project in her first grade class.
You know, OR people are nice. Dusty said, 'Yes, there's enough food, you can eat.' because I didn't pack my lunch, but the nurses and techs had bought for their bosses. The nurses teased the male nurse with the peanut allergy. Everything he went to eat, they'd say, 'There's peanut in it'. We all knew if he 'blew up' we could resuscitate him. But it's just our kind of humor. There were cute cupcakes and cake, but I didn't eat.
There was a one hour delay before my case. I accepted it, and instead of socializing, I set out to walk around the hospital and make some Vitamin D.
As I relaxed, the phone rang--it was another colleague who was finished and offered to relieve me!
So I went, I followed my heart, and sat alone in the loneliest corner of the restaurant because it was so full! I face the front door (good Feng Shui) and I people watched.
I saw many Buddhist monks and nuns--four, two separate parties, and I never have seen any there before. I watched the owner, who has taken a vow of silence, interact with them, Buddhist to Buddhist. And I was overwhelmed with sadness for them--they feel that they have to do some pretty drastic things to get 'enlightenment'--their own connection to Source. My Source allows me to speak to dead people, help souls cross to the Light, help heal many many people including online friends, and connect with like-minded people. I keep my hair. I can touch men and women--Buddhists can't touch women, not the monks--I know in the hospital it is a big deal for patient care. Doctors are the only exception, nurses too. I can laugh, I can talk, I can argue with Source, I can howl in pain from my breaking heart. I can hug trees, talk to fairies and animals...and because I don't like it, I don't eat meat, but I am not 'chained' to it. I felt compassion for those who have to follow what they are taught to find God...
Next, a regular, we'll call her 'Bee', came in, and filled my empty seat at my table. She does colonic therapy. She actually had miraculous healings herself, including a severe cashew allergy. She woke up to a voice that said, 'the allergy is GONE' and what used to make her throat swell, stopped! Rashes, endometriosis, and hypothyroid cleared by listening to her intuition, too. In her own words, 'I am in control of my vehicle'.
Bee is from Arcturus. She is Arcturian, and 'woke up' about six years ago. But she has a serious case of ADD. You know those 'implants' Cobra talked about? She has one. I could tell. Whenever she would start to get some clarity on her 'Mission' in 5D, it was like someone short-circuited her with a big ZAP and the thinking would get 'switched' to another topic. The poor woman has no idea of these 'implants' but I saw it being used to 'keep her down' spiritually, big time.
That being said, she offered ME a colonic. I declined. She asked why and I shared how I have seen perforated bowel in the O.R, and my gastroenterologists say there's more harm than good. This is because the water is not monitored for pressure in the bowel. Every bowel is different, and a blocked one with a tumor won't fit all that water in! Or the introducer could tear delicate rectum as it is placed by a not-so-careful technician. I also asked about c. difficult and contact isolation precautions to prevent infection transfer from one patient to the next. The equipment was sterile, and something else she 'cleaned' but it was 'because she thought it was good' and not standardized or mandatory. And wiping down the room? No. http://reikidoc.blogspot.com/2012/09/hey-healer-cooties-and-you.html
She took it well, and was fascinated and wanted to learn MORE about how to care for the colon. I offered to mention her interest to my most open-minded gastroenterologist, and perhaps they could meet?
Next I met a bulldog named 'Shirley'. Shirley is the wife of an anesthesiologist, a vegan, and interested in the project I have with the cafeteria/chef at my work. She wants us to get vegan catering there, and then get her husband's work 'in on it'. Shirley has been vegan so long she thinks doctors are not smart enough to figure out a 'switch' to soy fake meats in the doctor's dining room. She also believes a petition to the management would 'get them in'. I told her the cold hard facts--doctors like meat, the Chef at work is the only one with pull, and no compensation can be put on the deal yet because it is to serve humanity (hospital staff and patients) by making vegan options available to them--tasty ones.
We went round and round on the issues. It was a real downer seeing someone put something so stupid like a price tag on a way to make suffering less and health more. Just like with Bee, when you have your Mission and Commit to it, the Universe follows through with all kinds of opportunity coincidences! It is just like dominos falling against each other, boom boom boom boom boom...
By that time, I was estrogened out. I sought relief and I got it.
In any interaction with another, the STRONGEST Vibration Wins. It can be positive or negative, but it is the most intense energy that will affect the weaker one.
I held my own, but I sought out the testosterone corner (other owner, the silent one) just for a balancing effect.
I came home.
And Gabriel ushered me to my room. My kid is with Dad, it's Wednesday...
Guess what?
It's official.
I made it.
He did it and congratulated me. He said I was 'very close' and 'there wasn't much for him to do to make it happen' and 'it was like sweeping sand off a piece of wood'.
There is a wonderful warm feeling of peace and Love in my heart center now.
My body and soul are anchors for The Event.
I'll share more as it occurs...
And after the ecstasy of Archangel Gabriel and his message? I watered the plants and worked in the garden.
There's work tomorrow. And it's another day. But a very different one at that.
Aloha and Mahalos,
Namaste,
Reiki Doc
P.S. Orso is Italian for Bear. I wanted today to have the theme of how it feels to be 'there'--just like the love and security in this scene:

Doctor Defends His Life Against Medical Errors
Today I worked with my favorite Gastroenterologist. He was a pediatrician, a famous one at a famous hospital, back in India. Once he came to the United States, and had to retrain, he decided to become a Gastroenterologist. Back home, his medical school classmates do not understand why he would leave a prestigious field like Pediatrics, and work as a less-respected field.
"There are three kinds of patients. The first are the PPO's. They are nice. The second are the HMO's. They are always angry because the referral did not go through right, and they had to wait for their care. The last are the GNP (an IPA in the area). They think that anywhere else besides the main fancy hospital people don't know what they are doing." he shared.
Apparently the main fancy hospital 'has everything, all kinds of equipment' because of the many donations. They have EUS and another new technology.
A nurse asked about the local teaching hospital. 'Don't they have those technologies too?'
'I would not let them treat my dog, unless I wanted the dog dead!' he said.
Apparently he had a liver biopsy. He wanted transjugular, but the colleague he went to only did transcutaneous. (His colleague of choice went to his alma mater, and he respected their common institution.)
In recovery room, after the procedure, my favorite gastroenterologist knew something was seriously wrong. 'I am bleeding.' he said, and asked the nurse to contact the doctor. The doctor could not be reached, and the nurse sedated him. (The bleeding was internal, and it did not show on the dressing).
He had called his wife at the gym before the sedative. When she got there, he woke up. Nothing had happened. He called his friend, another G.I. attending and explained the situation. He got admitted to the hospital. Again he called his doctor, but only a resident got sent.
He passed out again. When he woke up, he was getting 'a fluid challenge'. 'What is this? Why am I getting a fluid challenge?'
'Your blood pressure is 60 (systolic--a pressure incompatible with life)'
'What is my hemoglobin?'
'Seven' (He had fourteen before the procedure. He had lost half his blood volume).
He called his friend the surgeon. His friend sent up his fellow. In fifteen minutes he was in the O.R.
There were five liters of blood in his abdomen. (He was hanging on to life by a mere thread.)
Anyone else that was not a physician would have not known to pick up the phone, or even whom to call, and would have died. It took four years and half a million dollars to get his health back to what it was before. The reason he keeps working still, is to make sure he has good insurance coverage.
'It was a good lesson for me," he said. "First, I learned to take good care of myself. Second, I learned what it is like to be on the patient side of the doctor-patient relationship."
He took action, not legal, but with the hospital. A review was done. The offending gastroenterologist was offered the chance to leave or be fired. He left.
"But you know what?" he asked, looking me straight in the eye, giving me the chills.
"I had a bad feeling about this. Before the procedure, when we were in the car, I told my wife. She asked me do you want to go back home? I said, no, we are here already. I often wonder what would have happened if I had listened to that feeling and not gone through with it."
