Go With The Flow Into The Higher Dimensions

Yesterday was like yoga class--it was as it a series of 'forms' was being presented to me in my day. Some of the 'forms' were easier to go through than others. And I discovered something new both mentally and spiritually: the more I 'let go' the further Spirit could 'push' me to 'make connections' with 'gentle hints' about how to go through my 'day'.

Morning was fascinating. I made sausage patties for my son. It is his favorite. I have changed from making the whole pound and sharing it, to making half and taking a little to be 'polite', to making half a package and not having any at all myself. This has been about two months. Instead I have my green drink and smoothie, and depending on his mood, he either drinks some of the smoothie I offer him, or not.

As I was cooking the sausage, I found myself thinking, I wish he didn't eat all of this.  There were four small patties. I ended up serving him two.

He didn't like it! 'These are too thin!' but he only ate those and didn't ask for more. This boy can eat a pound of sausage if I let him--he loves it that much.

It is happening. His tastes are changing. Just like with me. As the Vibration goes 'UP', the favorite foods of the past start to lose their 'appeal'. It is very gentle. It is almost imperceptible. But it is there. For the lunch, Turkey meat is 'out', by his choice, and 'bean and cheese burrito' is 'in'.

Next, I went to work with a friend of mine in the Urology room for the day. I smiled at how on the scheduling program they color coded the Urology Service as yellow.

What was even more odd was that the first two patients have had surgery with me doing anesthesia for them before. These were frequent-flyer patients, not just for the surgery but for the Reiki too.

As I gave Reiki during the cases, I had a wonderful sense of Archangel Michael. He was extra polite, extra kind, and extra helpful. He was like, 'you do this part here and I will do this part there and you don't have to close the aura--I will take care of it.' I appreciated it very much, his being such a Team Player. Very capable, confident, and sure in both of our skills. I enjoyed it.

As mom worsened, and I took texts and calls which I normally do not do during a case, my friend understood. She also was a sounding board on the medical decisions that we were making for mom. When mom's blood  pressure began to drop, a colleague just happened to finish early, so I could be excused from the O.R. and go to the E.R. and I.C.U. to be with her.

The radio as I first got into the car at that point was kind of freaking me out. The first song was 'Yellow' by Coldplay. The next was 'Sweater Weather'. I was wearing a yellow sweater--what are the odds of that???

The other number sequence I started to see, a LOT, on the road--on license plates, trucks, and other freeway things, was 444. This is the number of the angels.

As I was annoyed I missed the exit to go to the natural food store to pick up some late lunch/early dinner, I sensed Spirit saying, 'chill'.  Then an idea popped into my head--go to mom and dad's health food store on the way--it is on the same street as the hospital, just miles down the road.

It had changed management about a year ago. I was a little apprehensive as I walked in. It lasted about thirty seconds. Right near the front was a giant RAW section! I thought, cool! I bought a few things. But the magic was when I came across the RAW spices where you can buy in bulk. You see, as I read Cherie Soria in Raw Food For Dummies, I am learning that high-end RAW is slight of hand. The textures and flavors are designed to mimic the 'real thing', for example, a 'taco' would have a lettuce leaf 'shell', mushroom 'meat' and nut 'cheese' or 'sauce' to go with the traditional toppings. It looks 'different' but the taste is 'close'. I stuck my nose into many a bottle of spices, quickly and delightedly learning as I went through the ones that were a mystery to me. Marshmallow smells very bitter and green. Oat straw smells like a barn. Dulse smells, well, hard to describe. And there was one that started with an m that smells like thyme that I liked the best. Spirulina is crazy expensive! For a few minutes I forgot about mom and the ICU and work and just played.

When I was ready, I paid and ate in the back end of the car. It is a station wagon. I was going to bring the food to eat and the hospital and I thought, all this raw stuff I just bought--which isn't cheap--is going to pass the upper temperature limit easily here in the car in the sun! So I relaxed and ate there, having my own Raw Tailgate Party and making Vitamin D in the sunshine at the same time. I had Raw Falafels, which were heavy but close in flavor was close enough to the real thing: Back To Life brand Raw Vegan Cuisine www.backtolifelivingfoods.com The tahini was the best part! Then for dessert--this really was good!--Rawkin Raw Cool Chlorella-Mint Choc truffles! www.rawenergyandlife.com Apparently Alicia Silverstone and I have something in common--we both love the truffles!

At the hospital, I got there just in time to meet the intensivist who is also boarded in Infectious Disease. Mom was looking better. And her nurse was the same from last time--she was good.  My sister was there, and to make conversation, I asked her, mom, and the nurse what they thought about 'cleanses' and 'fasts'. The consensus was that it's something people do to 'lose weight', for example, before a big vacation, there is a 'juice cleanse' to allow more freedom of food choices while ON vacation, and then perhaps after a lot of drinking, another 'cleanse' to 'let go of the toxins from the system' after. (When I 'figure out' the whole 'cleanse' thing, I will write you a blog post about it. For now, it is still 'on the drawing board'.)

So it's like the Catholic church in the Renaissance, where you can sin as much as you like, but then through large donations find 'absolution' to cover for it?  They nodded and said, 'Yes!'. The ICU nurse was very knowledgeable, as was my sister, who has been pescatarian for many years.

After they left, and I sat with mom, soaking in her 'mom-ness' and enjoying that energy, the i.v. pump caught my attention the way Spirit sometimes lets me know to pay attention. The number on the display was 444. As I watched, it flipped to 444.4! And I knew I was not alone and being guided.

When I was ready to go, I said goodbye, and arrived in the garage just moments before my son and his dad pulled up. What perfect timing! they said, with surprise at the coincidence.

Coincidence? Or shifting from one 'yoga pose' to 'another' in Here and Now with Divine Timing?

I'll let you be the judge of that.

Namaste,
I thank you for all of the prayers, love and Light --and Reiki--being sent to us as mom recovers,

Hey Healer? Cooties--and you!

Okay, I was going to title this: Infectious Disease 101 for Energy Healers, but who would have wanted to click on that?

In doing my research for another article, I noted that a significant amount of Reiki is done in hospitals by volunteers working on cancer patients. Most of the bigger programs have Reiki practitioners who are 'official volunteer status', which means, there is documentation to prove that 'they have had their shots' and that they understand basic infectious disease control precautions.

I thought about it over the past few days. You know, in my Reiki classes when I trained, we never even washed our hands!

Did you know in the O.R. we have three classes of cases? Clean, clean-contaminated, and dirty, depending on the part of the body we are planning to work. In the event of someone with something that may be contagious to a following patient, the entire room undergoes a 'terminal clean'. We are hyper vigilant about infection, for a good reason. (The most infectious disease is the prion, the cause of Creuzfelt-Jakob and Mad-cow disease spongiform encephalitis. After a brain biopsy, we dispose of all instruments used on the case.)

So I thought, you know, there are some well-meaning Light Workers out there, who may or may not have physical contact with their clients, and they ought to know the basis on this infectious disease stuff so they can make their own decisions with this information.

Basically, there are three topics to discuss:
1) Things that are catchy to you and to your other clients
2) How to keep yourself and others from spreading anything infectious
3) Things you can carry to someone with a weakened immune system, and possibly kill them

Here are some things that are 'catchy' between people:

PARASITES:

1. lice
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001843/

2. scabies
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001833/

3. bed bugs
http://www.orkin.com/other/bed-bugs/

4. ringworm
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002411/

DISEASES SPREAD BY TOUCHING A PERSON OR SURFACE--contact transmission:
MRSA
VRE
C. Difficile
'Pink Eye' conjunctivitis
E Coli O157:H7

DISEASES SPREAD BY BREATHING--respiratory transmission--droplet or airborne:
tuberculosis
varicella
measles
meningitis

How disease is spread, in summary by the Australians--a very nice list of what is what and how it is spread:
http://www.dh.sa.gov.au/pehs/ygw/waysspread-pehs-sahealth-2009.pdf

Here is a thorough description of types of disease transmission and its prevention by Respiratory Therapists:
http://www.johnynami.com/transmissionofdisease.pdf

For example, the most personal protective equipment is necessary for blood-borne transmission, such as Hepatitis C or HIV, and these are worn:
gloves
gowns
bonnets
shoe covers
face shields
goggles
surgical masks (respirators if respiratory transmission)

Here are some steps to protect your patients and yourself:

contact precautions--in general always have good hand hygine:
wash your hands with soap before working with a patient. Use soap and water, scrub for thirty seconds (hint-sing the alphabet song), with friction, and use a paper towel to dry your hands completely. (Air blowers actually spread microbes up to four feet in the vicinity!)

contact precautions--known infectious agent:
use disposable sheets, gowns, gloves for yourself and patient.
disinfect all surfaces after each patient
follow hospital guidelines if in a medical facility

respiratory precautions--you or your client is 'coming down with something':
wear a surgical mask, and offer one to your patient if they are sneezing/have the flu
disinfect all surfaces after each patient
wash hands often and effectively
By the way,  in the hospital they use positive pressure ventilation rooms and negative pressure ones, depending if the germs need to stay out (immunocompromised) or in (respiratory spread of disease)

Yes, you can infect your client:
who is at risk:
immunosuppression-having had measles, chemo, or radiation
neutropenic patient (disease or chemo)
cancer
organ transplant
bone marrow transplant

And here is what can happen:
chicken pox can be fatal. If you have not had Chicken Pox or been vaccinated you should not work with this client on the off-chance you could catch chicken pox and transmit it to them before you know you have chicken pox.
pseudomonas, commonly found in the nose, can result in overwhelming systemic infection
influenza is particularly hard to fight in the elderly and the very young (the extremes of age)

Because of the known risk of transmission of these diseases, a typical health care worker is immunized against the following diseases, and must prove active immunity and up-to-date records to work:
Hepatitis B
Influenza
Measles
Mumps
Rubella
Tetanus
Diptheria
Pertussis
N. meningitidis
Varicella

If the best of intent leads to someone getting sicker without your knowing it, through Reiki or Energy Medicine that comes from you, is it worth it?

Why not take the steps to inform yourself, those you work with, and instill basic disease-prevention practice into your Energy work?

Life in the Fast Lane: Reiki in a Busy OR

This is a picture of a surgeon standing in their socks in a case. Almost all opthalmologists take their shoes off during surgery, too. They have to concentrate, and want to limit their distractions to a minimum. In the O.R., we work accurately, and we have to work FAST.

The last two days have had busy line-ups with lots of patients. Day before yesterday, I didn't have time to do Reiki on everybody. Just some. And yesterday, I didn't do Reiki at all. Except for being a continuous source. Why is this?

Well, during a case, I will have looked up the information on a patient before coming to the operating room. I will have spoken with them, examined them, and if necessary, given a little 'cocktail' or 'margarita' in the i.v. to reduce anxiety and make them forget what is going to happen. I also will have all the necessary equipment in the room for the anesthesia for the case.

Once in the room, I help the patient transfer to the table. Yesterday we did one case on the gurney and that was nice, not having to move the patient! But after they move and their pillows are adjusted, I put on blood pressure, pulse oximeter, EKG, and supplemental pre-oxygen. I induce anesthesia, and insert an  airway. It can be an LMA or and ETT, but I have to do it quick and not break teeth. Some teeth are in poor repair, and I have to be more careful than always. Once my tube is secure, the nurses position, prep, and the surgeon and scrub tech drape.

By the time for incision, we will have done a 'Time Out' to verify the surgery, the antibiotic status, the ASA status (how sick they are), and my anesthesia plan. I have to deepen the anesthetic for the incision.

Once this is done, i chart. Although some anesthesia records are automated, there is still a lot of information to be put in, especially the drugs given and the narrative for what happened. The is the fleshed-out preoperative assessment in the computer I need to complete, and the post-op orders for the patient in recovery room.

I also set up for the next patient and research them on the computer at this time.

Last, when there is time for it, I complete my billing information and staple it to the face sheet. The face sheet has all the information about the patient and the insurance on it. That is how we bill. Self-pay means the patient does not have money and I work for free. And cash is awkward because I have to collect it from the patient prior to surgery. Some give me a hard time about the fee and I have to call my boss or the accountant to verify the fee before they write the check. It is awkward to be in that position.

When do I eat? When do I use the bathroom? How do I make calls I need to make to set up appointments?

I run. Between the cases, I can take a few bites, but I am always rushing. If I  drank too much coffee and the patient is stable, the RN watches for less than five minutes while I run to the loo. And calls in the OR? As few as possible during the case.

I do, however, like to read journals and the newspaper to keep up during the maintenance part of the case. I am constantly watching the patient, the surgery and the monitors, but I need this breather to regenerate the energy I have been expending as a caregiver. It also helps me not to space out during the longest part of a case. I focus on everything at once.

This is when I am most likely to do Reiki. So when the case is short, or I am 'spent', I have to skip it.

That is the lesson I learned these past two days. Reiki regenerates you, but it has to be spontaneous. It is not compulsive. And when it gets that way, it can be 'one more thing to have to do'.

The Reiki I gave day before yesterday was to a patient with negative mental attitude, with a spinal cord stimulator AND an intrathecal pain pump in place that kept failing. These are each fifty-thousand dollar devices that are like pacemakers or insulin-pumps inserted in the back for pain management. When I hooked in for Reiki, I felt St. Michael behind me doing all the work. St. Michael helps in the clearing out of bad spirits, the dark entities and the negative entities. I did some Reiki, no Karuna, but chakra balancing and Deeksha. What I picked up is that sometimes train wrecks come to me for them to get rid of their parasites in their aura, and give them a chance to recover from their plight.

One patient had the surgeon perplexed. They kept having terrible abdominal pain. No test could find it. He had to operate, and found only mild adhesions in the intestines. But if I could, besides the MRI, the CAT scan and the ultrasound imaging, I would have done Reiki first. And balanced the chakras with the Guides of Compassionate Healing. I would bet dollars to donuts there was a pair of Dark Entities, a Major and a Minor, in either the red or orange chakra.  Those are the kind that like to cause pain. And nobody would know about it.

Again, I would like to recommend the work of Margaret Mc Cormick. For a fee, she can diagnose your 'attachments' remotely (she uses her pendulum), clear them, heal your aura, and protect you so that no negative or dark entities can attach to your energy system again (unless you invite them. you always have free will). I had it done early, and I felt it working from far away. The first removal, I had to nap! Be sure to check out her work if you are interested. If you work with people on a daily basis, I recommend it as a layer of protection in addition to your daily shield of white and/or gold or pink light. There is too much risk for you otherwise. Think of it like wearing protective gloves, gown, and eye shields when working with a patient with Hepatitis C. I did two of those yesterday...just as there is always risk 'you can catch something incurable' from body fluids, know that there is risk 'you can catch something energetically' too.

I think the need for balance, for rest, is to strengthen the aura. I think that is why I need my 'downtime', relatively-speaking, in my high vigilance, high caseload day.

Take care and know I love you : ))),
