The Incubator
My boyfriend left when I was four months pregnant with his child.
He wanted to be present at the birth.
I wanted no part of him until after the effort of labor; I wanted to give birth to my child undisturbed. I had all of the operators and the security system at my hospital actively protect my identity until I was out of the initial few days after my cesarian section after a failed induction of labor.
He argued that the child was his.
The law said I had the right no never contact him again and go on with my life happily.
He said, effectively, I was a 'container for his baby to grow in' or more appropriately, an incubator for his child.
Over the life of our child, we have come to respect one another, and co-parent between our two homes more effectively than most couples who are in our situation. This change has taken a lot of patience on my part, and a lot of help from prayer as well. I think my becoming a Reiki Master, and Karuna Reiki Master, was very helpful in changing my perspective to one of positivity, dedication to making the child's life as pleasant as possible, and learning to adapt to a life I hadn't anticipated but ended up with, making the best of what I have.
Yesterday I was on call for Labor and Delivery.
Something unusual happened--that's never happened before--I was interrupted in the middle of the Cobra Weekly Meditation for Liberation of the planet. My team on PFC had gathered in Los Angeles for a special event. And I was on call and couldn't attend.
So the phone rings in the call room, and the nurse says my patient needs a bolus for breakthrough pain on the epidural.
I had a choice--do I wait a couple minutes to finish, or do I go?
I thought, well gosh if I am supposed to meditate for the Goddess Spiral Vortex how can I let another 'goddess' in labor suffer and wait until I'm finished?
So in my mind I hit the 'pause' button on the meditation, and I went up and did my best to make her comfortable.
As I was waiting for the bolus of medicine to take effect, I stopped into the O.R., so I could catch up on my charting. I remembered I hadn't finished the meditation. So all alone, in the O.R., hands up, I rotated eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and then my hands dropped and I was like eeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhh.
Then I thought, why not attach this healing to the hospital and all O.R.'s?
Why stop there? Why not attach this healing to the entire medical system on the planet???
And boom! Remote view--instantly--Earth split into two parts, along the axis of a yo-yo but it looked more like a tennis ball that was cut---and like rocket boosters, the old shells fell away into space.
Ross was there--part of the meditation is to think of your Twin Flame--and he was very earnest and asked me, 'Do you know what you just did?'
I was totally clueless. I thought I was just watching the show that was cool, like everybody else.
He was really excited and smiling and very quiet, and looked at me again, and asked, 'Are you sure you didn't know?'
I shook my head.
He gently took my right arm, and together with his raised it over our heads. And all these people everywhere, rows and rows and rows of them, started cheering and dancing. They looked kind of like angels and kind of like galactics but I didn't have the best view. They were like in a movie when they do computer generated graphics and make lots and lots and lots of crowd. I definitely knew we were in the etheric plane or something, but I wasn't sure why everyone was there all happy over something that looked like a special effect in a film.
I still didn't understand. But I saw in our heart space we share between us, me and Ross, a tiny little earth, that was like a deflated soccer ball, and kind of like wet butterfly wings but the colors were very bright and colorful green and blue. It was only a moment I was able to look at it, but the image really lingered in my mind's eye.
Ross let out a cheer; I didn't understand what these people were all so excited about. But they were happy. I asked Ross if it was okay to excuse myself, and he said, yes. So my 5D or whatever D light body I have when I go there stayed, but my consciousness came back to the hospital. I checked with the patient, who was comfy, and then I went back to my room and made a salad for lunch, and I heated some Biryani that was frozen from Trader Joes in the microwave. I was sure to add 'love and gratitude' intent to the food before I put it in the microwave, to neutralize the effect on the energy of the food by the microwaves themselves.
This is the veve of Erzulie Danto.
You might want to look that one up.
Women and men in childbirth are getting so more pleasant now. I have seen husbands respect their wives. Women who are focused and with or without the epidural very cognizant of their blessing of being parents. Five years ago it used to be a real unpredictable thing.
I think the energies that are 'out there' are having some effect on people in general. Even the nurses are happy, and really nice, and not grumpy like they sometimes were before. Again, I do Reiki 24/7 when I'm in that part of the hospital, and I like to think it helps, but I know it's not the only reason behind these changes that I notice.
We are entering a time where the energy of the Goddess, and the balance between the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine, is coming to equilibrium instead of being slanted as it was, to heavily favor the male interest.
Funny it should happen, because, as a matter of fact, The Divine Mother sent this message out today herself: http://sirianheaven.wordpress.com/2014/03/24/feminine-or-masculine-the-divine-mother-through-isabel-henn-march-24-2014/
It deeply touched me.
I hope it touches you as well.

Obstetric Anesthesia: How I Share Your Pain
This is a spinal anesthetic; the anesthesiologist has pulled the stylet and is looking for a drop of CSF at the hub of the needle. This confirms placement is correct and injection of local anesthetic can go in.
Hi.
I do anesthesia for women who are in labor and having cesarean sections. I support women's medicine for the entire day I am 'on call', offering emotional and Reiki/spiritual support as well as the removal of pain of surgery and having a kid.
I hurt.
I feel your pain.
And after you are done and ecstatic over your newborn baby, I drive home somewhat in a fog, anxious to go to sleep. I experience sleep deprivation just like you with your crying baby--only for me it's the phone in the call room that wakes me up instead.
Sometimes I wonder if our Guides and Angels get as tired as I get, after helping us to get from 'here' to 'there' in our own growth and development.
Here are some of the ways all of us on the Labor Deck, not just the anesthesia providers (CRNA and MD) support you in ways you might not realize:
- The ward clerk and doctors office sees that all of your important medical information is sent to where you are having your baby so everyone will know your needs precisely for this delivery.
- The nurses carefully assess you and gather information for your current state and document it for the team, things like drug allergies, medical history, and obstetric history.
- The lab checks your blood for me to see if it is safe to put in an epidural or spinal for labor (not enough platelets, you can get a blood clot in the back that can paralyze you)
- The pharmacists make sure I have plenty of drugs to use to control your pain in the supply area.
- Emotional support begins with the nurses and they explain to me your 'situation' so I can react accordingly.
- Each of us on the care team makes it a point to communicate with face-to-face contact that 1) I'm here 2) I care about you and 3) I know what to do to make you feel better
- The above statement is from the work of Charles R. McKay, MD FACC FAHA, based on his work with Heart Failure Patients. This face-to-face is a direct factor in promoting good outcomes in patient care.
Sometimes when it is busy all of us feel like we are taking care of all these hungry chicks
In Spirit:
I offer myself to you in service with all of my gifts. With my intuition, combined with my experience and the teamwork/pooled intuition of the nurses, we have a pretty good idea if you are going to 'go' with vaginal delivery or need a c-section. We might try other things to 'help' it, but many times the 'data' point in that direction long before we ever mention it to you. We give you 'your chance' to go naturally.
I take in all this 'information' on your energy and emotional state, and adjust how I interact with you to make it more effective. For example, when Spirit guides me, 'give the Transition symbol' while I am with you, I give it. For example, I give a lot of Reiki while I hold you leg while you push. I also pray throughout the labor and delivery for both of us, for things to go as smoothly as possible.
In Emotions:
As an empath this is where I take the damage the most. When you are panicking, I feel it just like you. I do my work, but I have to be careful to take only 'what is mine' home with me at the end of the day.
This is why I take a bath or go to the ocean the day after--to clean all the residue of these emotions I have been in 'contact' with off.
I make it a point to smile and to be pleasant when I am with you, even at three a.m. It's not your fault or the baby's that we are working when both of us could be sleeping!
I also do not wear makeup so you will be the beautiful one and be comfortable while you are with us.
In Professional Capability:
Sometimes I 'dig deep' to deliver the care for you. The spine isn't always 'textbook'. I have to make minor adjustments in dose, approach, and equipment in everything I do. There is a ton of information I must enter into the computer about what I have selected for you and what I want the nurses to give, and what I have given and how. My job is to make it look easy, but between us right now, more often than not, I sweat a little, and sometimes my knees wobble over the difficulty of what I have been asked to do. 'An epidural' sounds simple, doesn't it? But to me, it is often like Luke Skywalker using The Force to get those shots into the Death Star at the end of the first Star Wars episode. (Most pain doctors do this procedure with fluoroscopy --x-ray movie--visualization).
I also communicate to the team effectively about what I have done and make sure that your clinical needs are met after I finish with my care.
In Physical Capacity:
I am hungry, often times. I am sleepy. I am sore. I have a sore back from reaching over the bed. My muscles get a workout trying to get the needle through the calcified ligaments in your back sometimes. I might have just sat down to eat lunch when I am asked to come 'fix the blood pressure' or 'give an epidural'. My feet and legs ache at the end of the day. I might, when it is late at night, want to brush my teeth, but I am in the middle of procedures and I can't do that. Many times we have to void and there is no time so we are 'holding it' until the next chance we can get to empty our bladder!
In Mental Fortitude:
Sometimes we have just had something challenge us and you are the next one. I have to tell myself to 'pull it together' and 'move on'. Sometimes I have to focus for the entire team, and be a leader when there is massive hemorrhage and I am giving lots of transfused blood. Sometimes the nurse you have has written me up in the past (they do this OFTEN! Even me! LOL), and I know it, and I don't want to be working with her but I am, and I have to 'buck up'. One of the hardest ones is when technically my work is 'a challenge' and I would like to quit but there is no back up. I have to keep trying until I get it in and get you comfortable. Sometimes I have to come back and take it out and do it over to make you comfortable. It is all in a day's work, but you wouldn't know this; having to explain this to you takes a lot of mental strength on my part because you and I simply weren't expecting any difficulty in the first place!
How Spirit Helps:
- The team invited me to buy dinner with them, but I declined.
- Five hours later, when I was hungry, a nurse offered me a slice of her leftover pizza and a ward clerk shared salsa and chips.
- I get woken up in the middle of the night with a message: God has JOY!
- Enough time is 'cleared' for me to take the yoga class offered free at work--in my scrubs!
- A song kept playing in my mind, all day, all night, and then the same one came up on the radio 'out of the blue' to comfort me. Here it is--above--see Coldplay's Chris Martin?
How You Help:
- Your trust
- Your smile when 'everything works'
- The gratitude of you, your husband, and your family for my work
- Your being yourself so I can see the 'spark of God in you'--sometimes it can be your carefully put together hair, your pedicure you picked out to make you look your best, your laugh and joking personality, your curiosity about 'medical stuff' and wanting to learn....you give back a lot by just being 'who you are'. I find it refreshing how 'different' every mother, father and baby is.
- Your little gifts for me or the team (we appreciate it VERY much)
- The look of relief and joy when I check on you the next day.
It is an honor and a joy to be there with you at this special event in your life.
Even if I am worked to the point of pain while it is happening.
We share that pain, together, while new life is being welcomed into this world!

A New Normal, Part 1
I read an article posted by a friend who has somewhat similar and yet in other areas, highly opposite beliefs from me. It upset me. What was it about? It was about a Family Practice Doc, who had his wife try a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) at home with a midwife. They got into trouble, and he insisted they take the wife in to the local community hospital where he worked. He delivered his son, and then they refused certain protocols, choosing to modify or delay customary treatments for the child. Child protective services was called on the parents. And an investigation opened up.
I wanted to jump in to that argument. I read the comments on the original article, and also attached to the post. But I thought about it. I asked myself the question, is this where we want medicine to be? No, not really. Not adversarial. But not 'botique' where the patient gets to pick and choose what they want either.
I envision a new normal for patient care. One where auras and energetic systems are acknowledged.
For example, the interaction between a former-chief-of-staff who was able to deliver children, but not someone typical in the Labor and Delivery department, must have included auras, trust, mistrust, and turf issues.
Let us rewrite the script.
Mother and father are into empowering women through home birth. They have a lifestyle that is based on the green movement, and holistic concepts. The midwife buys in to all of that herself. Their auras are mutually compatible. They are in the home, and it is harmonious to their belief systems. That is okay.
Father, through intuition and medical experience, senses trouble. He is outside his comfortable 'safety zone'. For the record, he was not completely in agreement with the home birth in a vaginal birth after cesarean in the first place. The couple transfer mid-labor to the local hospital.
Here is where the differences emerge: the belief systems and energetic systems of the facility and the patient do not match. This would have been a perfect opportunity for someone like me to intervene. Countless times, I have been called to what the nurses call, 'the crazy room' to intervene on behalf of their baby. I have seen Bradley Method couples where the wife wants the epidural and the husband, according to the plan, is trying to enforce the intervention-free birth. I have seen VBAC's refusing an i.v. and had to coax epidural insertion, not for analgesia, but for a safety device in the event of imminent c-section so I would not have to put the mother to sleep at the last minute. I am like a radio tuner capable of dialing in on any frequency of energetic aura system. I try to 'match' before I talk to somebody, whether it is a doctor, nurse, patient, or family member. Communication works best that way.
As we transition to the New, and we are well on the path towards it, I see the importance of the energetic system of each form of life on Earth to be recognized and taken into consideration.
Do we really want to deny our animals a chance to live and grow by eating meat?
How about the right-to-life of a tree standing in the way of a football stadium improvement?
Does anything that is not Fair Trade have as healthy a vibration as something that is Fair Trade?
Is your money being spent in ways that help Earth, or hurt her?
When you are sick, is your vibration optimized? Of course not! How can we best 'right' it again, together? For this transition period, we will have to thoroughly assess your system of beliefs, connect with you, and ramp up your energetic system. Be it with tea, chanting, Light, or conventional medicine for now.
There is so much more to it than meets the eye. Or the Mind. And Reiki is an excellent tool to be a part of this transition. By both allowing a Reiki practitioner to sense and to transmit, healing may be fine-tuned to individual needs best.
Namaste,
Reiki Doc
