A Sign of Spiritual Assistance: It's Almost Imperceptible

Can you see a flower grow while you are watching it?

The same is true with us.

We grow in spirit at the same rate that flowers touch the sky; we 'get there', albeit imperceptibly.

Today I had a 'meeting' with my boss.

Yes, that's right, I have one, same as you. Anesthesia bosses always catch you in the hallway. And after the topic of importance gets done, they relax and start bringing up 'other things'.

The messages I got were:

  • Sign the contract on this line and this line after you look at it tonight (tonight I am sending it to my contract attorney! LOL)
  • Position the patient so their legs hang off the bed for an epidural. (I can't reach across the bed, I have short arms, so that's why they sit funny. But I will do it.)
  • Here on some tips to make your epidural even more technically 'slick'
  • Don't take three weeks vacation in summer,  people complain to him. Don't take off work at times when school is out because other people have kids too. (even if I get coverage--he says 'it's not first come-first serve')
  • Do any of the women want to work part time? (looks straight at me--I stalled)
  • Because this is not residency, academics, or a large corporation, don't complain about not eating lunch. ('I get lunch but don't eat it. I take a few bites here and there. By dinner I am done.' they said. 'Get some nuts and chocolate to keep in your locker.')
I was pleasant.

I was polite.

And for the first time ever, I spoke up!
  • I completely understand. I won't do the Christmas break off again. EVER.
  • I won't do Spring Break either, too.
  • But please look at it from my side--this is FAMILY I have in France, I am going the long trip, and three weeks makes it more doable. My colleagues go to Iran, China and Vietnam for three weeks all the time. This is for my son to learn to speak French. What else am I supposed to do? This was planned in January. I have the tickets. (Just don't do it again--in SUMMER--he says. Ok.)
  • I also explained that I have food IN MY LOCKER and I don't even go to the cafeteria. And because I give a detailed report to PACU, unlike the rest of the group, that is where my time for lunch 'goes'. All I ask is for ten minutes to actually eat it. I won't mention it to the team any more--I will just go eat.
If this had been me twenty-five years ago, I would have gone home and cried to my husband, and never said a peep to my boss. I would have been terrified of losing my job.

If this had been twenty years ago, I would have done my best to do everything the boss said, and made sure he knew I was doing it.

If this had been fifteen years ago, I would have complained to a girlfriend about what was said, but never let my boss know I disagreed with him.

If this had been ten years ago, I would have asked a mentor how to make it work for me--with business smarts. I probably wouldn't have had the courage to try it.

If this had been five years ago, I would have gone straight to my mentor (a different one) and done exactly what HE said to do without questioning HIM.

Today I spoke for myself.

The 'flower of assertiveness and self-confidence'  is growing with lots of love and support from my Guardian Angel, Laetari, my Ascended Masters, and Spiritual Guides. And from the day to day practice of being a mom. I try to work together and be reasonable, but I also know when to 'call him on the carpet' because sometimes that's just what has to be done, and there is no choice.

Thank you so much God for helping me to grow like that. I am happy with the results!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A lot of people are disappointed with the Spiritual Path. It's not like you can measure inches gained or lost with a tape measure. It's not like a summer blockbuster movie with special effects.

It's like watching the grass grow, or paint dry.

But that is the speed it takes for a soul to learn life lessons. That's why it takes possibly many lifetimes to learn, right?

Keeping a journal is an excellent way to watch the effect of spiritual guidance.

It's there, with you, always.

And besides, being a Reiki Master helps too. I have grown so much as a person since I first took Reiki!

Reiki and the Time Share Vacation

We are at my parent's time share in the Palm Desert. I am writing this on an iPad. It will run everything together, I apologize.

The Time Share Concept is the most 3 D experience on earth:
1) people trying to make money lure people trying to get something for nothing with The Presentation, the Free Stay, and the Fifty Dollar Gift Card.
2) every psychological trick known to make the buyer buy is used by the seller.
3) for a ten thousand dollar purchase, assuming four hundred dollars a night hotel, it would take twenty five night to pay for itself.
4) this does not include property taxes and fees, this calculation on break even point.
5) the system pits the most aggressive 'get something for nothing' humans against each other to book time to stay.
6) the level of service was better at checking in to my last campsite. This had a line for parking, a line for door keys, and the room given was still occupied. We had to go back and do it again.
Our check in took us two hours!
7) I stay at three to five star hotels, and the level of service here was shocking. A front desk manager asked me how my day was. I said horrible. 'You mean it's not good enough for you?' no. They tricked my mom into a room she didn't want, etc, etc.  I was sad that any business, and any client would allow themselves to be treated this way.
( as an aside, my parents think this place is great. They also belong to a big HMO, that starts with the letter K. They think that is great too. Same total difference in level of service versus the outside, tolerated because if the good price.')

Anyhow, I had to fight for a cart, make three trips to unload the car. And I get to cook three meals a day for everyone on my 'vacation'. What turned my stomach about this is these companies, at management levels up, fleece people when providing a basic need, to recreation-ize, to have fun, to enjoy time with family. They want the money, not to make it fun and great and improve people's lives.

So where was the hidden gem of 5 D in all this 3 D Time Share? On Animal Planet channel on T V, with the show Call of the Wildman. Yes, the TurtleMan. The most back woods man from Kentucky, who saves animals in the unwanted human areas by live catch with his bare hands. I saw him take raccoons out of a dirt track press box, snapping turtles out of ponds, and snakes out of a backstage dressing room. His fee was not set. And he is a folk hero. He works for cookies, money, and homemade necklaces.

The future will be an economy built on the exchange of services based on reciprocity, love, joy, and mutual respect. Money will be obsolete .

Holo Holo: The Importance of Having Good Time

Holo is the Hawaiian word for 'to go out and have fun' or 'go outside'. Holo holo is 'to really go out and frolic'.

Sometimes you just need to get out of the house and enjoy yourself. And by house, it could be literal, or it could be figurative. For example, if you go out of the house, and think of things you can do to cross off your 'to do' list, you are not able to relax and have fun.

Fun is important. First, it raises your vibration. You get more energy. You stop feeding negative or destructive thought patterns. You can 'reset' that part of your brain by changing your environment if only for a little while.

Second, the higher your vibration, the more open you are to Divine Help. The helping forces in the Universe are able to 'reach you' better. You may get a fresh idea. Or the time you 'step away' from your problems might help them 'move around' so they are easier to solve when you get back to them. Fun is like meditating to the Other Side. Your brain is relaxed so they can connect with your consciousness more.

Last, fun is something worth scheduling into your calendar. As time increases faster, it is going to be more difficult to get chunks of time for relaxation. You have to factor that in, and make time for it.

I am an expert in 'mini-fun breaks'. Spontaneous trips out to frozen yogurt. An afternoon at the water park. Spending an extra day at a theme park. And overnight camping weekend a couple of hours away.
I am not so good, however, at planning vacation. I have to find someone willing to work for me, to be at the hospital instead of me. It takes negotiation, and also, loss of pay on my part. There is no paid time off when you are in business for yourself. But if you think about it, with the significant number of overnight and late night shifts in my line of work, time off is essential.

On my last vacation, it took me until Wednesday to truly relax. I had fun, but I was so wound up that the travel on the weekend, and adjusting to the new time zone/vacation routine was not enough to deeply relax me right away. Other places of work have eight weeks paid vacation. They know how hard it is to be vigilant all the time in our work.

This time I am going to ask for help, from my Guiding Entities, in figuring out how to schedule time in for fun. Over the past year, I have had to give up moonlighting in the ICU for fun, psychic development classes, and my season tickets to performing arts events. There is just no time. I have conflict over the quality of parenting time available for my son. I can't see where to get the time 'back' in my schedule. I am going to ask for help in making the right choices so I can set the right amount of time factored in advance, for both of us to learn and grow by good times. Celebration is important.

On Rest and Relaxation

Everyone needs sleep. Except perhaps maybe doctors. It seemed like that my last OB anesthesia call. Last Sunday night was particularly brutal. Every time I went into a deep sleep I was woken out of it by a nurse telling me to go upstairs and do some anesthesia whatever.

By the time morning came, I had to drink coffee to be able to drive and get my boy from my mother's house which is the opposite way from our home and school. The medical center is between both of our homes.

Monday was hard. With dropping off my son and taking care of errands, there was not much time for sleep. About two hours.  I was so wound up it was hard to rest. The hours are hard on my son, too. He doesn't sleep well out with a babysitter. He fell asleep with his head on my lap as I sat on the couch talking on the phone to coworkers.

I can't begin to say how many times my peace and rest has been interrupted because of work. Even on post-call days. I will just get to sleep and there is a call, usually from someone I have to answer, like a boss. Even just checking disrupts my sleep. Studies have shown that night workers never rest as well, and not only do people think they are 'lazy' but they live shorter lives due to all that stress.

Tuesday I had a day off. It was magnificent, except for the fact that I was not being paid.

We had a pleasant, not-rushed breakfast before school. I dropped him off AND picked him up. In between I cleaned, took care of some of the pets, and spent around an hour outside in the garden. It was the last that renewed my Spirit. The breeze before the storm made me feel ALIVE! I love gardening, and it has been weeks before I had the chance to do so.

We had dinner, dessert (I baked brownies), and played Kinect for the first time since Christmas.

Yes,  a boss called at nine o'clock and took an hour of my time at bedtime. I should say, former boss and colleague who is suing the big boss that absconded with the cash. This individual takes one hour of my time at a pop, especially when I am done with my twenty-four hour shift and trying to leave the hospital. I have noticed more peace since they left.

When it comes right down to it, out of the entire month of February, the number of days I have to 'do what I want to do' are three. How can one function? By barely hanging on.

With the coming changes, it is very important for us to rest. After every attunement, and sometimes even before, in my Reiki training, I got sleepy. It is important to rest as we assimilate to new vibration.

I think we go someplace far away when we sleep. We go Home. And sometimes when you have that powerful dream of a loved one that seems 'real' you remember all of your life, that is a special gift that has been arranged between your loved one and Home. I think it is more than 'recharging your batteries' or 'storage backup of the day's memories'. I think we go someplace where we are conscious, we review our day, and plan what will happen in the next.

Everything happens for the best. I believe that in this powerful industrialized way of living, that wrings out every drop of productivity to take away our power to dream and to create our own reality, something has got to give. It is like watching the housing market the last ten years. Prices were going up so much I did not understand how anyone could buy a house. I barely afforded a cheap one and I have an excellent job. It had to bust. It was in a non-sustainable rate of growth.

Something is going to change in our lifestyle. Something for the better. I can sense it like the coming of the rain. Be strong, and do your best to go along with whatever happens. The vigilance of our work is getting the upper hand on rest and relaxation. But not forever. Nothing is forever, except What Is.
