Ross' Special Day

Today is Ross's birthday.

And no, Ross is not Dr. Martin Luther King. It just happens to be a coincidence.

I made him a cake with candles in Spirit, and our children and I sang 'Happy Birthday' to him last night, since it was his birthday in the East and it was almost midnight here in California. Although we are on different dimensions, we have enough 'common' to move ahead as a normal family. As you might recall, about six months ago, Ross (whose face I couldn't see at the time) revealed to me (in our home, aboard ship) that we had two children. I apologized profusely for the amnesia, knowing it must be painful to them to see me and I have no clue who they are. There is a girl with brown hair who is a teenager, and a boy who is about ten who has brown hair too. They were quiet, very quiet and I hugged them and promised them I would be back and I would work hard to get my memory back so I could be their mom to them in every way, with my heart. I assured them no matter what I loved them very much and would always have that love for them no matter where I am on my assignment to liberate Gaia.

So the three of us sang 'Happy Birthday Dear Papa', and Ross was deeply touched.

It's been quite a while for us being separated by our roles in the Liberation of the planet. And it was nice to be able to celebrate our first birthday as a family in ages...

First thing this morning, Ross said he wants a coffee, the fancy kind with all the stuff on top, for his birthday. I teased him that because he likes his ice cream on top of his cake and it gets all mushy (the unthinkable for me--I put it in a dish!), that he probably likes american coffee that tastes like folger's too.

I like it dark, Peet's is best, and I don't like ANYTHING in it.

But in line, I ordered a hazelnut macchiato, grande, just because he asked me to enjoy something like that in honor of him.

I had just finished my shift on L&D and stopped by the local coffee place on the way home. They have internet too--here I am!--and I wanted to enjoy drinking it there instead of in the car.

The cashier asked my name.
I said it and showed him my badge that was around my neck, so he could spell it.

Cashier: Doctor....huh?
Me: Yes.
Cashier: What kind of doctor are you?
Me: Anesthesia....I just got done with a shift on OB. (I smiled big). There are five happy moms now because of me!

It turns out his sister is studying to be a Midwife. I explained how we have them at our work, and it's really nice. She should look into it. (She graduates in a couple years).

I handed him my card.

He wouldn't take it.

I saw on the register, $2.25...

I was puzzled.

Cashier: Thank you for all you do.

This has NEVER happened to me, ever, in my whole career!

I was surprised and felt so much nurturing, warmth, love and compassion!

Thank you Ross for giving a fresh birthday surprise to me...

I am the luckiest woman who ever walked Gaia!

On Facing My Worst Nightmare Tonight ((( Heart )))

I faced my worst nightmare tonight.
It wasn't in a hospital.
It was at an 'Open Mic' night at Au Lac.

I went there for a friend, my friend and Reiki student, Amber.
It was her twenty-fifth birthday tonight.
She invited me to come.
I knew it would mean a lot to her.

The OR ran late and by the time I arrived it was three hours late for her party.
I waited for a guitarist to stop, and I walked to where she was sitting.
I gave her a big hug, from my heart, and had her open her present.

I chose the new Doreen Virtue Virgin Mary Oracle cards--
Amber sees Blessed Mother now, too.
And with Doreen's cards there is never anything 'reversed' or 'upside down'.
They are all positive. (I also gave her a pendulum, and a little more, and a card.)

I don't like crowds.
I am uncomfortable around people I don't know.
Especially ones that look like the people who used to smoke pot with Dad at the nudist camp where I 'grew up'. (there's a blog post on 'Growing Up Nudist', if you're interested).

I didn't like the Vibe.
The 'searching' and the 'playing' with Consciousness.
It was like the giggles from smoking pot--I couldn't take them seriously.
Or Dad.
I was old enough to know the difference.

Pot smokers can be okay--Wes Annac--go ahead, Light Up for God's Sakes--I know you think my 'wine with dinner' is toxic so we're even! LOL
Incidentally, Edgar Cayce enjoyed his cigarettes--he used to say, 'there is no tobacco where I am going'…

But for me, with that type of crowd, I get nervous.
Very nervous.
It's because of when I was a kid, and Dad seemed, well, out of control momentarily by these people.

Anyhow,
Tonight was OKAY.
Everything was FINE.
No one hurt me.
And Amber gave a beautiful tribute to the magic that has brought us to be friends:

  • I gave her anesthesia for her c-section, and forgot about it. She did too.
  • Amber sought me out for my Reiki when I was at her work (she is a server)
  • I taught her Reiki to help her mom who has end-stage breast cancer.
  • She asked me to look up her file at work--did I do her anesthesia?
  • She was right! We marveled at the coincidence...
  • I also wrote a letter for her to get into a Master's program, and it worked!
Everybody clapped and cheered to learn of my role in her journey! All of the ones that looked like those people I feared-- loved me, and accepted me, not as their own, but as Amber's.

She also gave credit to my Twin, my brother, who owns the restaurant but used to be my kid brother when I was alive while he was an infant…He is important in her Path and Magic too…He was just as embarrassed as I was, but glad in the heart, and walked out of the room when the crowd started to clap and cheer his name.

On the drive home I sang to keep myself awake.
And I thought. I thought about the people that make me nervous, and why?
I couldn't figure it out.

I pulled in to the garage, and saw the snowman had fallen over completely. It is my boy's treasure and delight, and he would be upset to know it was not standing up. It is one of those inflatable eight-foot tall ones that lights up.

So I checked.
It did not have the pegs.
The little pegs that anchor it had come out. There are three and none of them were in the ground.
I fixed them, and it stood up.

Then I understood!
They do not have the pegs!
These people who make me nervous are 'flighty' and 'top heavy' or 'airy', with 'too much spirit' and not enough of solid contact with day-to-day 'earth'.
They do not have the pegs…

Their reality is not like mine as I know it, a world of discipline and structure.
They do not have the pegs…
For years I looked for someone to 'anchor me'.
I deliberately sought out partners who were 'big' like bouncers just to help me 'ground' and feel 'protected'; I was so spiritually 'flighty' that I was afraid without it I would 'float up'…It was uncomfortable!
It wasn't until medical school and splitting up with my baby-daddy that put me Here and Now all the way--LOL.

No wonder why that personality 'bothered me'…I was looking at part of myself--floaty, otherworldly, yours truly.
I was that way for most of my life!
Until I woke up.

Always look past the 'uncomfortable feeling' to see what is True in your Heart Center.

I'm glad I did.
Happy Birthday Amber!
There is magic for everyone tonight.

A Letter On Compassion From One Of My Patients

This photo carries the energy that is in the thank you note

Dr. (Reiki Doc's Real Last Name),

Thank you for your hard work and efficiency during the labor and delivery of my daughter (her name). She is healthy and growing fast. We could not have done it without you. Thank you for your follow-up after delivery as well. Your compassion is appreciated.

Sincerely,
The Patient Family

(The ER RN) at the same hospital as where I, Reiki Doc,  used to work before.

This patient understood the incredible amount of energy it took to keep bolusing the epidural through all hours of the night. Sometimes an epidural is a 'set it and forget it' and sometimes it's a 'let's keep this one working even though it's not great because it's easier than putting a new one in'.

I was exhausted, but kept coming to help her because, as she asked why? and I said, 'It's the reason why I am here. It's my job. And even though I am sleepy it is my pleasure to help you. After all, through our old work, we are FAMILY!--ohana.'

She gave me a two pound box of Rocky Mountain Company handmade chocolates with a big pink bow!

I shared with the nurses. Even though it wasn't RAW or vegan, I enjoyed it very much. I can't wait to see the look on my son's eyes when he sees how much chocolate we still have left!

GRATITUDE is what is going to make the new economic system go--not 'money'. Other civilizations who are more advanced than we are have come to this 'place' where it 'works'.

All I can say is that the gratitude feels wonderful, and has stayed with me ever since being surprises that the wonderful box on the counter I thought was for sure for somebody else turned out to be a thank you gift for me!

Namaste,

Reiki Doc

P.S. She got Reiki. Lots of it. But I didn't let her know.

How RAW Powered Me Through My Twenty-Four Hour Shift

When I work on Labor and Delivery, and do anesthesia for women who are having babies, I am at the mercy of fate. Whatever is needed I am called to provide to keep the mothers-to-be safe and comfortable during the time before the delivery of the newborn infant.

Typically this exhausts me so bad the next day I am in a world of pain and suffering. Often through the night, as I work I feel the burden of the hours when I would rather be asleep.

This most recent shift was 'different'. I was able to perform with more consistent energy for work throughout the work shift. I also experienced some loss of energy the following afternoon, and in one hour was able to quickly replace it without sleep.

Would you like to know more about it?

I began the day without stress. I was a little late, but did not allow myself to feel 'the day had gone past me'. I cooked an egg and toast breakfast for my boy, which he ate in the car. I also made smoothie with banana/orange/blueberry for us both. And a cup of black coffee.

Once he was dropped off, I called the department and the physician on call to ask for report on today's assignment. I also reminded the anesthesia MD that attendance was required at the department meeting, and I would meet them there in ten minutes, again, limiting stress. I said my prayers on the way to work in the car. I also only unloaded me, not my overnight things, from the car.

At the meeting, there was RAW fruit. I took some and a cinnamon roll that looked curious. It was a mini roll, and after one bite I saw it was not good. I ate the fruit and finished my coffee I brought from home.

What I did next was to prepare emergency medications and syringes, check the anesthesia machines, and move my things into the call room. I have a work bag, and overnight wheeled luggage that is small, and a reuseable grocery bag that is filled with fresh, organic produce for the fridge in the call room.

Because the patients were stable, I had some down time. I did ninety minutes of Kundalini Yoga with Ana Brett and Devi Singh on my iPad instant video app. Then I chanted. And I wrote!

There was a great deal to write! I finished around two, with minor interruptions to place epidurals where I came back to complete each task.

I was surprised at how my hunger, because of my enthusiasm, didn't 'creep up' between the hours of eleven and two when the doctor's dining room is open. Instead after, I went to the main cafeteria, and bought salad dressing (oil and vinegar) and water. Then I had a huge salad with lettuce, raw corn cut off the cob, avocado, celery, yellow pepper, and lentil sprouts.

After patient care, a strong wave of sleepiness came over me. I lay down in the call room and slept soundly from three thirty until five thirty, when I was woke up to take care of a patient.

The patients stack up! I was able to fit in a snack around six of fruit, tea, and nuts.

Then I was working again. In some down time, I checked on the mothers who had finished and were recovering to make sure their legs were not numb. I visited for some time with one pleasant couple.

The emergency hit. A 'bleeder'. This took all of my time from ten to two in the morning. More epidurals stacked up. There was no time for 'dinner', just my 'snack'. After the 'bleeder' there were homemade chocolate chip cookies in baggies on the counter at the nursing station. I ate three, and the nurses said, 'You earned it!' because of the stress of saving the life and managing the emotions of the patient and family in the aftermath of the 'event'.

My energy was consistent and my technical skills unaffected by fatigue throughout.

(Medical research on truck drivers and airline pilots show after sixteen hours, work is affected by sleep deprivation. A human is affected as much as if they had taken one drink of alcohol.)

I slept from three a.m. to five a.m. when I was faced with the brutal assignment of three epidurals back to back. It's not the epidural insertion, it's the paperwork that takes about forty minutes for each one.

At seven I was expected to pack up, leave the call room, and wait for my next day's work which began at eleven.  We were short-staffed, typically this doesn't happen, I get to leave. Now I had the 'short day'.

I had fruit and juice for breakfast. Then I slept in the back seat of the car for two more hours.

I woke up groggy and not refreshed. I drank a coffee with good effect, and ate an orange. I was attentive and alert throughout until two p.m when I was allowed to go home.

I got my clothes back on, and left for my favorite RAW vegan restaurant where my friends are.

My energy was at an all-time low.

My Reiki student was serving my booth. She sat down and gave me a big hug. I said, 'I got beat up'. She said, 'You are going to get beat up.' I said, 'I took care of everybody well.' She said, 'Of course, I expect no less.' She added, 'I will tell Mai to come and love on you.'

I concentrated on my breathing. I rehydrated with kengan water while the food was being made.

Mai sent this:

I also ordered D Stressed, and Elixir that looked somewhat like this:

I drank slowly, and concentrated on grounding to Earth, absorbing the healing energy that was around me, and drawing in Spiritual Energy with my breath.

Mai came and brought rolls for us, 'sushi' ones, to eat. She also rubbed my back, as her husband is an anesthesiologist like me. I work with him sometimes. She said he wants this back rub every night. She knew every place that was sore from the sitting and work that we do. Her knuckles dug into my muscles, and for five minutes I Let Go.

The biggest difference was a RAW soup called 'Humanese' which has tamari miso broth, coconut, avocado, and other things I don't recall. A RAW soup is warm but not steaming hot. I felt my body 'come online' after that. It was the salt.

Chef stopped at my table. I explained how I used the energy of RAW to help me through my long assignment. He was pleased.

Then I looked at him, and asked, simply, 'How did you ever figure this RAW thing out?'

He smiled, gestured to say, 'I tried it and I felt better and more strong.'

I guess the same could be said of what happened to me.

I was able to go home and be a mom until ten o'clock at night. My 'second shift' went well. Not too dazed and certainly not incapacitated like before when I ate microwaved leftovers and organic food from home supplemented with vegetarian food from the cafeteria.

these are RAW 'quiches'

Here are some excellent links on RAW living--
Remember, you need B-12 every day, a green supplement, and a protein supplement to 'go RAW vegan and not lose nutrition.'

Enjoy trying something new! Remember, you don't have to go one-hundred percent RAW. Anything you add to your diet is going to give you vibrant energy because the enzymes that are in the food and not destroyed by heat are going to help you digest the RAW  meal. You won't get sleepy like you do after meat, and carbohydrates and dairy.

That is enough for today.

Mahalo and Aloha,
Namaste,

Reiki Doc
