Advances In Spine Surgery

Have you ever heard of 'arthroscopy'?

This is the type of surgery on the joint where the surgeon operates inside the joint via a small tube. There are special instruments, and with direct vision of a camera, the surgeon is able to relieve most types of injury that are causing pain. The shoulder and the knee are common for this type of surgery. What is less common, but still done, is the hip.

And even more so, is arthroscopic surgery into the joints in the back, the spine.

Recently I saw an old school doc learning about it with the help of another neurosurgery spine surgeon.

The incision was one inch long!

The patient was asleep. But with x-rays and a microscope they were able to go in and clean up the joints that were causing pain to our patient. The one who was guiding the other said he can do a full fusion of the back through those tubes. He was excited about the technology.

There is another who is a pioneer in this field. He has invented the instruments and worked in California, Florida and Texas.  He raises some good points here in this video:

And of course, there is the energy aspect of the dis-ease, the energy imbalance which leads up to back pain itself. Here is a description with affirmation for three locations of pain, by Louise Hay and Mona Lisa Shulz, M.D. in their fabulous book, All Is Well :
  • Lower Back the imbalance is fear of money and lack of financial support. The affirmation to relieve this imbalance is I trust the process of life. All I need is always taken care of. I am safe.
  • Middle Back  the imbalance is guilt. Stuck in all that stuff there. 'Get off my back'. The affirmation to ease this imbalance is I release the past. I am free to move forward with love in my heart.
  • Upper Back  the imbalance is from lack of emotional support. Feeling unloved. Holding back love. The affirmation to help rebalance this is I love and approve of myself. Life supports me and loves me.

The best part was when I saw something black like a crystal sticking out of his pocket in the O.R. before he scrubbed in. I asked him, 'what is that?'.

It was a Sworovski crystal skull his wife had bought him, because he's a neurosurgeon. Here's what it looks like: http://www.swarovski.com/Web_US/en/1111589/product/N_The_Skull_Key_Ring.html?WT_oss=skull%20keychan&WT_oss_r=1

But then again, the healing power of the crystal skull is another story...

P.S. all of my patients get Reiki healing available to them too. Every time. That's why they do well.
